In brief

May 6, 2024

First off, in this Monday Morning Messenger, the Texas Propane Gas Association alerts members of an upcoming nationwide roadside enforcement event happening next week. Learn more about what Texas Highway Patrol and commercial motor vehicle enforcement officials will be looking for.

In the second story of the morning, the Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA) links to our immensely popular Convention Preview edition of the Texas Propane magazine. The newly published May magazine gives the propane industry a sneak peek of the upcoming 2024 Crossroads Propane Expo & Conference along with registration information.

There are 94 people in Texas looking to work in the propane industry. Read our third story of the morning to learn if they are in your area and how you can access their information to see if they are a right fit for your company.

Additionally, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) contacted TPGA and asked if we would share a training survey with our members. The RRC is collecting feedback so they can improve their training. Read our fourth story of the morning to find out how you can submit training feedback.

Lastly, the association is traveling to Irving today for our Q2 board May board meeting. Check out more information about these meetings that are open to all members.

Roadside Enforcement Event Scheduled

for May 14-16, 2024

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck, a nationwide roadside event, is coming up on May 14-16, 2024.

During this three-day initiative across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, expect high-volume inspections of commercial vehicles for compliance with safety regulations.

This year's Roadcheck emphasizes two focus areas: tractor protection systems and controlled substance and alcohol use.

Commercial motor vehicle employers are reminded to:

In addition to focusing on tractor protection systems and controlled substance and alcohol use, roadside inspectors over the three days of International Roadcheck, inspectors will conduct their routine North American Standard Level I Inspection, which is a thorough 37-step inspection procedure consisting of the examination of vehicle components and driver documentation and requirements.

A vehicle that successfully passes a Level I or V Inspection without any critical vehicle inspection item violations may receive a CVSA decal, which is valid for three months.

During the driver portion of an inspection, inspectors will check the driver’s operating credentials, hours-of-service documentation, Clearinghouse status, seat belt usage, and for alcohol and/or drug impairment.
