"Heart of the Matter" Breakfast Worship Series
"Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people." -Acts of the Apostles 2: 46-47
In the weeks following Easter, we are creating a "temple" of worship in our hearts, whether we can be physically together or not. By sharing in words and music and breathing and eating and moving together, we will stay connected. The earliest Christians worshiped in their homes before they had churches, and so will we, until we can meet again at Colonial Church. Because at the "heart of the matter," we are connected through the Spirit that makes us one in love.
- Challah Mother's Day Worship - Sunday, May 10, 2020. Pastor Aaron suggests this recipe for your challah. Please post photos of your creations in Colonial Stays Home.
- Muffiny Sunday Worship, May 17, 2020
- Oatmeal Worship - Memorial Day Weekend Sunday, May 24, 2020
- Pancake Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2020
As we connect over breakfast at 8:30 a.m. or 10:15 a.m. each week, we have a suggested item to eat together in our homes. During worship, we'll praise, pray, and dance (yes, each week has a dance number! ). Our worship is designed to help carry us through these days apart until we can be together again.

Ramadan Post-Fast Dinners
The Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan is April 24 - May 24, with opportunities to learn more about the meaning and beauty of the celebration that includes followers fasting from sunrise to sunset. As the sun goes down, families and friends traditionally gather to share a fast breaking dinner.
The Dialogue Institute of Kansas City invites you to join this year in a virtual fast-breaking dinner through YouTube, Zoom or other technology methods. If you would like to share a meal with a family, contact the Dialogue Institute (786-978-1307) to be put in contact with a Muslim family to share a meal on one of the nights during this month. Or you may go to You Tube (bit.ly/2VpuTRp) and click "live" at 7:30 on one of the evenings to share a meal that will include speakers on the meaning of Ramadan traditions from participants living in various parts of the United States.
We look forward to hosting a fast-breaking dinner in the social hall again next year, but this will allow us to touch base with old and new friends and learn more of Islam now.

Come to Thursday 10:30 a.m. Study Group
Many Jewish Christians of the first century were regarded by still-skeptical family, friends and neighbors as dangerous, misguided and even disloyal to God. The letter to the Hebrews was written to show that you can't go back to an earlier stage but must press on eagerly to that is yet to come. Our weekly studies are based on NT Wright's materials, we hope to find encouragement and assurance that pressing on, even in the face of such close and constant pressure to fall back, is its own reward.
This group is open to everyone. You can connect online at https://zoom.us/j/8796465039?pwd=NFFIMXZFbnJQQUVGMzJWRG9WT2tLUT09 with password 7039 or call in by calling 669-900-6833 with Meeting ID: 879 646 5039

The need for food is greater than ever. Please be generous. Since we can't fill the red wagon at Colonial each week, consider these methods of donating:
Harvesters - The Community Food Network is encouraging the community to help by donating money. Every dollar donated helps ensure they have the food and resources on hand to meet any additional demand. It also helps get the food out more effectively and efficiently.

Even though our building is currently closed, we are picking up mail everyday. Counters will not be counting as often, but will still be making deposits. Therefore, you may mail in your pledge checks, One Great Hour of Sharing, or any other payments and they will be processed.
An easier alternative is to send payments online. You just fill in your banking information ( routing number and account number ) and your name and email and what fund you are paying ( Stewardship, food pantry, etc.) and the amount. The link you use is https://colonialucc.breezechms.com/give/online
If you have any questions, you may email or call Heather in the office or Jayne Quimby, Financial Recorder.

Pastor Aaron's 10th Anniversary
This coming June will mark Aaron Roberts' 10th anniversary as Colonial's pastor. To celebrate this occasion the Council is planning recognition of Aaron's service following the 8:30 and 10:15 a.m. worship services on June 7.
We will present Aaron with a special gift as well as funding for sabbatical and/or continuing education purposes. Anyone wishing to contribute to this effort is invited to make a donation through Heather at the church office, designating the gift "Aaron's 10th." Thank you for helping to honor Aaron. Ancel Neuburger, Moderator
