MCWC Woman Of Distinction
We attended a beautiful luncheon celebrating our 2022 Woman of Distinction, Debbie Flint. Debbie is the Store Manager at Something Special, the resale shop that supports the Montgomery County Women's Center. Debbie has volunteered with many organizations in the past but fell in love with our mission when she began volunteering with us in 2009.

Debbie's favorite part about working at the store is that she gets to see on a daily basis how we are impacting the lives of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in our community. Additionally, she has been blessed to cultivate and lead an amazing group of dedicated volunteers to help run the store.

We are honored to have Debbie as a member of the team and proud to announce her as our 2022 Woman Of Distinction!
May Agency Highlights
A HUGE SHOUT OUT to our friends at Waste Connections who hit an all new record this year at their annual golf tournament!!! They chose Montgomery County Women’s Center as the beneficiary of a $30k donation from the proceeds. They are proud to support the services we provide to victims/ survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our community. We are incredibly blessed to have them as valued Community Partners!
“At Waste Connections, we measure our success by the continuing, positive impact we have within our local communities. The Company and our employees support more than a thousand organizations through direct contributions, volunteering or fundraising. A majority of our philanthropic efforts are focused on organizations that either support women and children at risk or address racial inequities at a local or national level.”

SHOUT OUT to Tiffany and Chandler, teachers from Klein Cain High School who led a clothing drive for MCWC Shelter! Thank you for choosing our organization!

June Is PRIDE Month
Because the majority of the domestic violence awareness movement has focused on heterosexual relationships, members of the LGBTQ community have been largely left out of the movement. However, recent research shows that LGBTQ members fall victim to domestic violence at equal or even higher rates compared to their heterosexual counterparts.
If you’re LGBTQ, you may face unique obstacles to seeking support around dating abuse, especially when you’re first coming out. Abusers may say that disrespectful or violent behavior in an LGBTQ relationship is normal, but it’s not.
Know that you are not alone and there are places that can help. Chat with an advocate to learn your options or receive a local referral today. We can provide support whether you’re ready to end the relationship or not.
