PLANNING PHASE

Hibbard Park OSLAD Project

Staff recommended moving forward with Innovation Landscaping for construction of playground upgrades, pickleball courts, shelter, and new walkways. Eight bids were received; the winning bid fits within the $1.4M project budget, which includes $600k in grant funding. A kick-off meeting with Innovation Landscaping is scheduled. Staff is working hard to minimize disruption to programming during construction.

EXECUTION PHASE

Gillson Park Infrastructure Project

Gillson Park Phase 3: The final phase of the project is nearly complete. Paving and striping were completed mid-May. Final electrical work and punch list items are underway.

EXECUTION PHASE

Solar Panel Project at CRC

Community Recreation Center's solar panel installation project is underway. Equipment delivery and staging area established. Roof framing is near completion. Panels set to be installed in the coming weeks. Project remains on schedule.

U P D A T E S

BOARD APPOINTMENTS & RECOGNITION - At the May 12 Board Meeting, the Wilmette Park District Board of Park Commissioners elected Patrick Lahey as Board President and Allison Frazier as Vice President. Congratulations to Board Commissioner Kara Kosloskus for being recognized by the Illinois Association of Park Districts as a “Notable Board Member,” having accumulated over 100 board development units for her contributions.

OPERATIONS - The District is committed to reinforcing and educating the community on Park District ordinances. These include the use of dog leashes and regulating bicycle, e-bike, e-scooter, and other vehicle usage in parks to address safety and enforcement gaps. Coordination with Village officials and Wilmette Police is ongoing. For more information visit our website.

MISCELLANEOUS -

Dance Alliance

Dance teams brought home multiple awards from the Spotlight Dance Cup, including Diamond and Ruby recognitions and special judges’ awards.

Touch-A-Truck The annual Touch-A-Truck event hosted at Centennial Parking Lot had great weather and saw over 1,000 attendees and over 25 different vehicles.

Earth Month Events

The Sustainability team hosted Earth Day at Keay and participated in the City Nature Challenge. 80 native tree seedlings were distributed on Arbor Day in partnership with the Village.
