The 2019 Bulldogs Varsity Baseball team is off to one of it’s best starts in years, posting an 11-4 record after the first 15 games of the season with 4 games remaining. The Bulldogs went 5-1 in the Division and tied with B-CC and Whitman for the regular season Championship.
After winning two playoff games last season and advancing to the round of 16 of the 4A State Playoffs, the 2019 Bulldogs are looking to make an even deeper run this year in their pursuit of a State Championship.
There are two particularly important games coming up for the Bulldogs in the next week, who finish up the final 4 games of the regular season with 3 games at Chuck Stevens Field at Churchill: 4/29 vs Richard Montgomery at 3:45pm, 5/2 vs Magruder at 3:45pm, and 5/6 vs Clarksburg at 5:15pm.
This
Thursday, May 2nd is Senior Night
, with festivities to honor the senior class to follow the game at approximately 5:45-6:00pm. The Bulldogs are led this season by seven seniors, including captains
Michael Janis
,
Ben Nardi
and
Simon Fettig
, as well as
Jake DePirri
,
Matt Rudolph
,
Jake Kaplan
, and
Will Beller
.
Monday, May 6th, is the Scoreboard Dedication and Community Night
, with a pre-game ceremony at 5pm to dedicate the brand new scoreboard at Chuck Stevens Field in honor of Andy Ehrlich, a former Churchill baseball player (Class of ‘91), with members of the Ehrlich family, friends and alumni. The Booster Club is also hosting Community Night for the baseball and softball teams and will be providing Carmen's Italian Ice, a Spirit table with green and blue beads, tattoos and other fun Churchill items, and some simple concessions (popcorn, candy, and drinks).
So come out and support the Bulldogs over their last 3 home games as they prepare for the State Playoffs and honor one of the winningest senior classes in years! Go Bulldogs Baseball!

4 - Girls Lacrosse is 8-1!
|
|
Boosted by a high-powered offense, stingy defense, and contributions from players up and down the lineup, the Churchill girl’s lacrosse team heads into the last week of the season at 8-1, again one of the County’s premier teams. Averaging 17 goals per game, the offense is led by the team’s dynamic trio of seniors
Emma Sumberg
(64 pts.) and
Lizzie Hsu
(57 pts.) with do-it-all junior
Leah Rubino
scoring (61 pts.), winning draws, and leading the team in takeaways. Freshman sensation
Sophie Sinai
is showing her stuff with speed, smarts, and huge plays, while
the Shimabukuro sisters, Emily and Holly
, and
Claire Kim
are scoring, scooping ground balls, and playing hard. The stout defense is led by goalie
Emily “E-Money” Feigen
and our defensive wall of seniors
Sabrina Nusraty
and
Kamryn Testa
, with big contributions from juniors
Lauryn Redwood
and
Lucia Alem
and sophomore
Sidney Redwood
. The team closes out the regular season with tough contests against perennial powerhouse Damascus at home on Tuesday and undefeated Sherwood away on Thursday.
