Missouri Scholars 100
High school Senior Ethan Brown of Carl Junction High School has been selected for the 2019 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating class of 2019.

The selection is based primarily on a formula using the student's grade point average and ACT or SAT score. Each student nominated had to first meet criteria of an "Academic Decathlon," which included ten "events" designed to assure the academic strength of the student. To meet the decathlon requirements, the student must have a minimum GPA of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,600, be ranked in the upper ten percent of the class, and have taken upper level courses.

Ethan is the son of Jeremy and Teresa Brown of Joplin, Missouri.
All-Area Academic Team
Carl Junction Seniors Ethan Brown and Seth Frack have been selected to The Joplin Globe Academic Excellence Team. Twenty area students were chosen to the team based on an overall score using grade point average and ACT (or SAT) scores.

Storm Shelter Information
Our district is grateful for the community support we received to build the FEMA-rated safe room shelters that are now in each of our school complexes. They provide an invaluable safety resource for our students.

But did you know, the shelter at the High School building will is open for public use when NOAA issues Severe Thunderstorm Warnings or Tornado Warnings are issued regardless of the time of day (as capacity allows)?!

We are in need of volunteers that can assist during weather events outside regular school hours. For more information about the shelter, location, shelter rules, and volunteering see our webpage: Storm Shelter Information Link
Marlett selected for National Honor
Jackson Marlett, a high school Sophomore has been selected as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, a three-day event to be held in Massachusetts over the summer, with the purpose of inspiring and motivating future medical leaders.

At the event, Marlett will have the opportunity to hear Nobel Prize and National Medal of Science winners discuss leading medical research, receive guidance from Ivy League and top medical school deans, and learn about the newest advances in medicine and medical technology. An invitation to attend this conference is very selective and is based on nomination from counselors, teachers, or principals. Qualities of students chosen include leadership potential, outstanding grades, and dedication to the medical field.

Marlett maintains a 3.94 GPA and is enrolled in several dual-credit classes with hopes to graduate with his associate's degree at graduation 2021. He plans to attend college and later to become a lab research doctor or general physician.
