TREE WATERER WANTED!

The Village is in search of a strong, reliable person to hand-water young trees and other Town plantings.

Requirements:

  • the ability to carry and/or lift a 5-gallon water container,
  • your own transporting device: wagon, golf cart, or car,
  • dedication – ALL plants must receive water once a week.
  • select which day-of-the-week you will carry out the task, then stick to it as a regular pattern.

Compensation: $80 per session

SOLID WASTE SURVEY

To everyone who replied to our informal survey, thank you. Survey results will be shared with the Town Council at their May meeting.

REMINDER: BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICE TESTING

It is nearly time to perform annual tests of backflow prevention devices (BFD). These devices are required on any system that is permanently connected to the Town’s water distribution lines, e.g., lawn sprinklers, fire sprinklers, and boilers. All BFDs must be tested every year, and many residents participate in the Town’s testing program. Last year’s testing fee was $46 per device; we have no information yet on this year’s fee. If you wish to join the Town’s testing program OR you have participated in the past and no longer wish to participate in the Town’s program, please contract Clerk/Treasurer Sue Ann Spens to let her know.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday April 2nd  and conducted the following business:

  • Passed Ordinance No. 471 enacting amendments to the Zoning Code mandated by state statute. The amendments were discussed during a public hearing prior to passage.
  • Approved a request remove an ailing tree from the right-of-way on SE 29th St. The removal will be mitigated with tree replacements.
  • Passed Ordinance No. 472 amending the Building Code to remove references to the International Wildland Urban Interface Code.
  • Discussed the impact of recent SEPA changes on the Town’s land-use codes.
  • Councilmember Wheeler reported that a bid for repairing the pavement along the Arterial is in process.
  • Councilmember Dix reported that she has started work to obtain bids for work along the Glen Path.
  • Mayor Howes reported that some aspects of the recent middle-housing legislation have been modified for small cities/towns.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT

All necessary permits were issued last month for:

  • 2807 102nd Ave SE: mechanical/ plumbing permit
