President's Message

Change is definitely among us these days in much of our everyday landscapes. Politics, families, economic trends, topography, and really life itself seems to be constantly on the move. Just looking out my office window, I can see three pieces of heavy equipment at what was once the Bowling Green, now visibly a parking lot with a large pile of dirt. Positive changes to come for that site no doubt. And when it comes to an appropriate word to describe what is happening at the chamber office, I can't think of a more appropriate word than Change.

After 30 years of opening our doors each day at 7507 Hubbard Avenue, we will be moving to a new location at 7427 Elmwood Avenue (quite literally as you read this message the move will be taking place). I like to think of this as the next chapter in the continued commitment to serve the entire membership of the Middleton Chamber through a fresh and renewed space.

The new location will be a friendly, welcoming and useable space that we will be proud to call "home". The decision to remain in downtown Middleton was of great importance to the board and staff, in an effort to continue to ensure the synergy of what this chamber represents remains solid. I know you will all find the space to be a great addition to the community. A "change" that we all can be excited about!

It was my pleasure to host our annual Past Presidents Breakfast on April 12th. We had 19 past Chamber presidents in attendance, from as far back as 1977 to the rookie, Bob V. It was an awesome experience to fathom the decades of service to Middleton this group has come to represent, and offered a great opportunity to talk about all the changes that have happened within the chamber since 1952. One past president was impressed with our current initiatives and the issues we face vs. those in the past, growth vs survival. It seemed that everyone walked away with a positive energy about where the Chamber is headed.

I recently read a great quote from a newsletter I was given... "By changing nothing, nothing changes". On behalf of the staff and the entire board of directors, I look forward to seeing many of you at our new location in the near future. As always, I can't thank each of you enough for all you do for the chamber. Your continued enthusiasm and commitment as members are what has made all this great change possible!
