CRYA Opening Day May 3rd, 2025

Congratulations to MCYC for being #1

It was a great day for all as the weather cooperated, the wind died down and the new parade route went even better than expected! As an officer of CRYA I have not heard one bad thing about the parade. That is incredible as bad news usually travels the fastest. If you didn't make it out this year, please ask both the power and sailboats who did their opinions of the day. I appreciate that RCYC with its large contingent of sailboats also went downriver to the I-5 bridge turning at that point in a pre-determined route for use by sailboats who couldn't make it under the bridge. Everyone looked great, and we're already taking efforts to capture the best of the day and event to make May 2, 2026 an even more spectacular Opening Day.

Please do share pictures on our Columbia River Yachting Association Facebook page so we can all see them.

We also need to give a big Thank You to Kat and Pete Petterson from TYEE YC. She with TYEE helped to host two practice runs along with some great ideas on how to make the new parade route work. Here are a few photo's from the day.

You can also find photo's on the Columbia River Yachting Association Facebook page taken by Maria Swearingen. Thank you Maria!

Please note - CRYC had 100% VSC's. The correction was noted but didn't change parade standings. But, look how close a contest it was for that 2nd and 3rd spot!

Content in your Club's Newsletters that all Boaters should read?

We can't see every club's internal communication, but we have to think some of the articles would be great information for all boaters. If you find that article of interest, please forward it to cryanews@gmail.com after getting approval to share. We can all be more informed.
