2023 Calendar Decoy Auction
May
Thank you to all of the Wisconsin carvers who donated their original hand-carved decoys and to Chase Baker at Grit LLC for photographing the images featured in our 2023 Conservation Calendar.

All of the decoys are hand carved, one-of-a-kind and several of our carvers are no longer offering their decoys for sale on the general market.

We are very excited to be offering these decoys for auction in the month they are featured in our calendar. Bidding is now open for:
Red Breasted Merganser
by Robert Rosenberger
Opening Bid $150
About the carver:
Robert Rosenberger lives in Twin Bridge WI, in northern Marinette county and has been carving decoys for over 45 years. He carved his first decoy when he was 11 years old, a mallard made out of an old fence post! Robert was self taught in waterfowl anatomy by watching ducks in a local park. When you see his finished decoys it is clear that he has great knowledge of waterfowl anatomy and posture. Rob still hunts over his own rig of mallard and bluebill decoys.

Robert continues his knowledge by attending classes by some of the masters of decoy carving and continues to share that knowledge by leading carving classes for carvers near his home in Marinette county.
About the decoy:
Rob’s Merganser is hand carved from basswood and is solid, not hollowed. Robert’s carving would be considered “folk-art” style. He paints with artist acrylic paints and uses glass eyes in his decoys. The decoy has carved primaries and his painting shows exquisite shading and highlighting that is true to the species. His carving detail in the bill, crest carving and vermiculation on the side pockets sets himself apart from many talented carvers!

Rob does sell his decoys by commission, but please plan to get your requests in early because he usually has a long waiting list.
Here’s your chance to avoid that wait, get your bid in on this beautiful hand carved Red Breasted Merganser by one of Wisconsin’s most talented carvers!

Rob can be contacted on his Facebook page or at Rosenbergerdecoys@yahoo.com
