May Climate Solutions Caucus Round-Up

Please see below for highlights from May and a preview of what’s to come.


May Engagement:

Members met to discuss critical mineral technologies and innovation. 

  • Members were joined by the Battery Materials Technology Coalition and companies working to build out the domestic critical mineral supply chain including Niron Magnetics, ReElement, SOUTH32, Form Energy, and Standard Lithium. The group discussed emerging technologies, the importance of strategic public-private partnerships, and policy solutions to strengthen U.S. competitiveness and national security.

Staff met to discuss policy approaches to the IRA energy tax credits.

  • In mid-May, staff gathered to talk through various policy approaches to the IRA energy tax credits. Staff were joined by the Alliance for Climate Tax Coalition, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, Bipartisan Policy Center, CERES, and the NYU Tax Law Center to discuss general questions and impacts to investment flows, jobs, supply chains, trade dynamics, long-term economic growth, and U.S. competitiveness.

Looking Ahead: 


Members plan to meet next to discuss competition with China as well as baseload power options for meeting energy demand.



Caucus staff plan to discuss advanced nuclear technologies.
