Stacey Nerone to Retire from Safe Environment Manager
Stacey Nerone, Safe Environment Manager, will be retiring from her role at St. Brigid of Kildare on June 1 after 14 years of service. She has spent those years managing the compliance of the Diocesan Safe Environment policies for our parish and school for all teachers, staff, and volunteers in activities and programs involving children and youth. She also facilitated the VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training sessions as well as general safe environment policies, including background checks and annual audits.

Stacey has also been involved in the parish in various volunteer roles over the years as a parishioner and school parent, including the Elizabeth Ministry, Women’s Club, Athletics, High School Youth Ministry, EPIC, Boy Scouts, and Home and School. She is the Charter Organization Representative for both Scout Troop 117 and Cub Scout Pack 117 and also serves on the Athletic Association Board.

In her retirement, Stacey and her husband Joe plan to travel and are looking forward to spending quality time with family and friends. She is excited to pursue gardening, home projects and to continue supporting her two adult sons, Lewis and Garrett, as they pursue their dreams and careers in engineering.

Stacey would like to thank Monsignor Hendricks for his support and advice in the challenging world of youth protection, “His commitment to our parish and best practices of the safe environment program is well recognized in our diocese. I’d also like to thank all the volunteers who have given of their time and talent to support our parish programs involving children and youth,” Stacey says.

We are grateful to Stacey for her time, dedication and thorough reliability during her time as Safe Environment Manager, and we wish her and her family the best going forward!
Welcome to John Denzel, Safe Environment Manager
St. Brigid of Kildare Parish is excited to welcome John Denzel as the Safe Environment Manager beginning June 6. John has been a part of our parish and school for the last two decades, working in numerous volunteer roles with his son and other children of our parish. He recognizes the importance of putting our children first and providing nurturing and safe environments for children to learn and grow. He has previously worked as a technical sales manager for Solenis, a global specialty chemical company.

At St. Brigid of Kildare, John has been active in the music ministry, Knights of Columbus, Men’s Cornerstone Group, and currently works as an after school latchkey teacher for our school children.

John is looking forward to meeting and interacting with all the active groups and people who make our parish so successful. He is looking forward to beginning his new role June 6, and can be reached at [email protected].
Welcome to Kim VanHuffel, Pastoral Associate
St. Brigid of Kildare Parish is excited to welcome Kim VanHuffel as our Pastoral Associate beginning July 1. Kim will be overseeing the RCIA and bereavement programs in our parish.

Kim recently worked as the Adult Faith Formation Director at St. Joan of Arc and also taught 5th and 6th grade religion at St. Brigid of Kildare School. Kim has served as the RCIA Director at both St. Brigid of Kildare and St. Joan of Arc. She is excited to also oversee the bereavement ministry, as she feels called to work in the ministry after recently losing her mother and mother-in-law. She understands what a crucial time it is for those who have lost a loved one and hopes to be a support to them during the difficult time surrounding the funeral and burial. She will also oversee the homebound ministry and looks forward to working with so many wonderful volunteers who bring Jesus to people where they are.

As a longtime parishioner at St. Brigid of Kildare, Kim has also served as a catechist in Religious Education, served on the Education Committee, served on the Crucial Conversations committee, and began the EPIC middle school youth group and the Older Adult Ministry. She also currently facilitates the Mom to Mom group.

Kim is most looking forward to helping those people on their journey to becoming Catholic and comforting the family members of the deceased, all the while rejoining a great staff and working with very caring volunteers. “The staff and volunteers at St. Brigid, led by Monsignor Hendricks, are second to none in caring for people in need and meeting them where they are at, and I’m honored to be part of that,” Kim says.

Kim is looking forward to beginning July 1, and can be reached at [email protected]

Bishop's Annual Appeal
Our Columbus Diocese is overjoyed at the announcement that Pope Francis has named Father Earl K. Fernandes, a priest of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, as the Bishop of Columbus. He will be joining us as our new spiritual leader following his installation on May 31, 2022.

Let us show our new Bishop that St. Brigid of Kildare is behind him and the Diocese of Columbus as he begins his new role by donating to the 2022 Bishops Annual Appeal.  He will need our prayers and encouragement.

Your faithful support of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps secure our Catholic legacy. The BAA funds, the education of our children, preparation courses for marriage, the education of our future priests and deacons, social justice programs in our community, and many other ministries.
Real Presence, Real Future: Feedback Needed
The Real Presence, Real Future initiative has created draft models which grouped some parishes together to foster collaboration. The Diocese of Columbus is asking all parishioners to review the videos that summarize these draft models for our planning area, Group 2 North, and then respond to their survey.

Step 1: Watch 35-Minute Video

  • The first 25 minutes of the video give an overview of the reasons for the need for this long-range plan for the Diocese of Columbus.
  • From minutes 25-35, they discuss the proposed draft options for consolidating parishes in our planning area
  • Minute 30 begins St. Brigid's proposed plan: collaborating with St. Joseph Church in Plain City, keeping separate churches but sharing clergy and staff.
Step 2: Give Feedback

  • After watching the video, complete the short parishioner feedback survey based on the draft models proposed in the video.
The survey will close on June 30.

Please take the time to give your honest feedback, as the more feedback received, the more effective and meaningful this initiative will be.

Thank you for your time on this matter!

To see the draft models for all parishes, and for more information on this initiative, visit the RPRF webpage here.

Adult Faith Formation
Summer Salt for the Soul... to flavor, ... to season, ... to preserve

TWO OFFERINGS:

ONE AT ST. BRIGID OF KILDARE or ON ZOOM
'Dancing with the Universe' is a series of three talks given by Monsignor Tony Doherty (from Ireland) inspired by the 2015 document of Pope Francis entitled 'Care for our Common Home' (Laudato Si) and a commentary by Irish Writer Daniel O'Leary “An Astonishing Secret”. The talks explore the contemporary science about the age of our universe; the mystery of simply being human; and the language we employ about our beliefs in God. It would help if you have read Laudato Si by Pope Francis

Tuesdays May 24, May 31 and June 7 in the Berry Room After 9 AM Mass until 11:30
Or if you prefer, the exact same presentation will be on ZOOM at 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Meeting ID: 895 8356 2848   Passcode: SALT

ONE ON YOUR OWN:
People often say, “Sister, I would love to come to the things you offer at St. Brigid, but I don’t have time.” So, this summer I will give you something that you can do at home in your own time. You can do the study with a friend, a neighbor or as a family. The studies will be posted on the website and published in the bulletin in June. Each study is independent, so do all or just one. That is up to you!
Protecting God's Children - Updated Sessions
The Diocesan Safe Environment Department will be offering Virtus Protecting God's Children sessions via Zoom 5/19, 6/16 at 6:00 pm via Holy Spirit Church. Registration is at www.virtus.org. All potential parent and athletic volunteers are encouranged to register before these sessions fill up. Limit is 50 participants per session.

Potential volunteers with children and youth must also complete a St. Brigid volunteer application, and submit a signed code of conduct, copy of photo ID, and submit to a criminal background check.

Full details and forms can be found at https://stbrigidofkildare.org/safe-environment/ or contact Stacey Nerone, Safe Environment Manager at [email protected]
