President's Message - Judy Weston

Reflections on Year One -- Blessed

It truly came in as a burst of wind as we practiced for the installation during a tornado warning in the basement of St. John XXIII center. My husband sent me a text saying "Now you know what to be prepared for!" It has been a whirlwind of blessings!

I have been blessed by the spirituality of many women across the diocese, truly my sisters in Christ. The funeral, many of us attended together in March, was inspiring as I witnessed the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy being lived out with love.

Christ Has Risen Alleluia – He Has Risen Indeed!

Easter is not just a day but 50 days. So, for the next 50 days you can greet people with “Happy Easter”. Some people may look at you and try to correct you, and when they do, I challenge you to use it as an opportunity to evangelize to them. Take it as your personal “Road to Emmaus”, explain what Jesus did for them, and for the whole world.

Divine Mercy Report

Service-Joyce Reich

There is no greater sign of hope in our world than the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord. Just as the apostles witnessed “all that He did” (Acts 10:39), let us be witnesses to the hope and power of life over death. Give us eyes to see Christ when all seems lost.

“Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not disappoint me in my hope.” - Psalm 119:116

“During the Holy Year, we are called to be tangible signs of hope for those of our brothers and sisters who experience hardships of any kind.” Pope Francis said in the papal bull published prior to the Jubilee Year’s opening. Perhaps the Jubilee Year is the best time to make the gap between the privileged and the poor disappear. Continue all the wonderful Corporal Works of Mercy you are doing: donating food to CSS or local Food Banks that serve the poor and disadvantaged, serving meals to the less fortunate, serving funeral dinners that offer nourishment and comfort, fasting and prayer to end worldwide hunger,

and all the many other works all our PCCWs do.

April showers bring May flowers.  Please pray we will be blessed with rain soon and it will continue through the summer.  Not only for our crops, but to keep the fires from burning our parched land. God, our heavenly creator, please let the rain pour over our parched lands. Amen!

President's Project:

Adopt a Pregnancy Center

Please choose a Pregnancy Center you would like to support. Many of those who volunteer would enjoy the personal connection from their local Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW). We currently have lists from pregnancy centers and one from St. Gianna for their apartment needs. Please use the list as a reference of what to purchase. If you wish to send money to the Pregnancy Center please send the money  directly to Pregnancy Center

The spiritual needs of the centers are important as well. Use the Spiritual Bouquet cards and send them to your local pregnancy center and let them know they are receiving  spiritual cover to do their work.

Our Lady of Patiently Listening

Our Lady of Rokitno

This is a unknown devotion to our Lady. As president, I searched for a saint who I felt closest to. Although I have many favorites, feel most connected to Our Lady of Patiently Listening. As a young teen, I had a catastrophic day, so much that I don't remember, but what I do remember is running to my mother and crying my eyes out as she patiently listened.
