May Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners.

Kitten season is here and our shelter is FULL of moms and babies who need a loving space to grow strong and healthy. We’re urgently looking for foster homes to care for these little families. All supplies and support are provided. All you need is a safe space and a big heart! Fostering saves lives and helps free up space for other animals in need. Will you be their hero? Family Fun Day offers something for everyone. This free event will include music, face painting, crafts, games, vendors, food trucks, and more! We hope to see you, our life-saving friends, there.

Kids of all ages are invited to GMHS to read to our shelter pets! Participants can share their love of books, improve their reading skills, and help enrich the lives of our shelter animals while earning fun prizes June 7 until August 23! Most animals find the human voice to be comforting and soothing, while they provide no judgement to the reader presenting. Simply stop by GMHS Tuesday-Sunday of each week from 12-5 PM!

Compassionate Community

Our Kitten Shower was a purr-fect success, all thanks to YOUR generous donations and support. Every can of food, cozy blanket, and container of formula helps give our tiniest residents the best start in life.

An extra special shoutout to Walmart Gloucester for donating the delicious cake, cookies, and adorable decorations — you made our event extra sweet and festive!

Our Purina Pack the Pallet Event was a huge success! Thank you to everyone that stopped by and donated pet food, treats, and supplies for our shelter.
