Upstairs Downtown Tour

Want a sneak peak into several Downtown Projects?!
Downtown Partners is teaming up with several property owners for “Upstairs Downtown,” a very special tour of upper story spaces in Downtown Burlington. From luxury condos to the residential developments in progress, come see how the adaptive reuse of historic buildings is reenergizing Downtown.
The “Upstairs Downtown” tour will be held Sunday, May 21 from noon to 4 PM. Tickets are $20 online or at the door of any site during the tour.
The featured spaces are 724 Jefferson (Scotten/Gabeline Building), McConnell Lofts at 200 N. Fourth, the Tama Too Complex at 300-310 Jefferson, The Loft by First United Methodist Church at 416 Jefferson Street, and Churchill Lofts at 100 N 4th Street.

Downtown Partners, Inc. is calling all green thumbs to volunteer and help transform the area into a vibrant, colorful oasis.

Lighting of the Great River Bridge

The Burlington Lightscape Project invites the community to the Port of Burlington for the count down to the lighting of the Great River Bridge!
The Lighting Ceremony starts at 7:30 PM at the Northside of the Port of Burlington. Come early to grab a drink and celebrate with the community.
The south side of the bridge lights have been dedicated to Andrew Whitcomb of Dallas City, Ill., and Pearson Franklin of New London — the two men who lost their lives working on the bridge on October 18, 2022. The dedication was made with the approval of the families of both men. There will be a moment of silence and remembrance for the work that they did and their lives that were taken too soon.

ALL-STAR Battle of the Brushes

The past four Battle of the Brushes Winners will be bringing their creativity, brushes, and competitive spirit for the ULTIMATE Art Center of Burlington's Battle of the Brushes: Live Painting Competition on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Here is the twist.... the subject and theme to be painted will be revealed just minutes before the painting begins at 5 PM! The painters are David Garrison, Craig Fleece, Kathleen Almelien, and John Preston.
After the competition, the paintings will be raffled off as a fundraiser for the Art Center. The money raised from raffle tickets will go towards operating expenses of the Art Center of Burlington to help continue to offer quality gallery exhibits, classes for all ages, and other opportunities for artists.
Doors open at 4:30 PM. The Gallery Lounge will be open with a cash bar, offering light appetizers, wine, and beer.

The Johnny Rogers Show: History of Rock n Roll

The Johnny Rogers Show "The History of Rock n Roll" is the story of Buddy and beyond.
Johnny is perhaps the most versatile performer in America today. Performing in London, the Netherlands, Germany, and all over the United States including New York, Las Vegas, Branson, and Chicago. Johnny will transport his audience back in time when you could go to your favorite malt shop with your favorite girl and dance to your favorite bands.
The show is a tribute to the music of the legends of Rock N Roll. His show will start with Johnny's uncanny portrayal of the late, great Buddy Holly, and go on with a tribute to the legendary Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ricky Nelson, Chuck Berry, and many more. The show will climax with Johnny's portrayal of the late Elvis Presley.

Downtown Partners, Inc. Business Signage Grant Program offers applicants up to $300 in matching grant funds for perpendicular “blade” signage for their businesses!
Blade signs have several benefits:
- Accentuating the traditional historic and walkable character of Downtown Burlington
- Emphasizing the Downtown district as a collection of small, independent, locally owned businesses
- Adding to the liveliness of the streetscape
- Freeing up sidewalk space occupied by sandwich board signs
- Encouraging businesses to explore their individuality and examine their branding
- Increasing business visibility for potential customers who would otherwise not know anything about the business unless they were directly in front of it
