We are THRILLED to welcome aboard new LHC Team Members, Lisa Kim and Emily McCoy Bish.

Lisa joined LHC May 16 as Program Manager, and will be primarily responsible for managing LHC's Leadership Premier program. She brings with her over 10 years of experience developing innovative programming, promoting community enrichment and engagement. She received a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Loyola University Maryland.  Lisa resides in Howard County with her husband and two children.

Emily starts her role as Program Coordinator today, June 1. Emily will be lead staff for LHC's Leadership U, and help support the Premier program. Emily's background spans more than 20 years working in both the business and non-profit sectors, where she has extensively engaged in youth development, community collaboration, communications and development. She received an Associate of Arts degree in Business and Marketing from Frederick Community College, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix – Columbia Campus. Emily resides in Frederick with her family and loves spending time outdoors with her 10-year-old son.

Alumni are encouraged to reach out to their network of organizations and share information about this tremendous resource available to our community's non-profits.

Thursday, June 8 from 12 to 1 pm - Register

Wednesday, June 14 from 5 to 6 pm - Register

Thursday, June 22 from 9 to 10 am - Register


In addition, a virtual CIP "Office Hours" Forum will be held to answer any questions and provide clarification about the application and the process Tuesday, June 27 from 4 to 5 pm - Register

Join The Celebration For Leadership Premier 2023

Leadership Essentials 2023's May Session focused on mental fitness techniques from PQ: Positive Intelligence and was led by four LE coaches: Jennifer Anderson, Kim Harris, Vicki Jordan, and Liz Brooks. The second part of the day featured LHC President & CEO, Tim Payne, who provided information about Leadership Howard County. The cohort then shared some of their program take-aways, along with some valuable feedback for the 2024 program. As the LE Cohort approaches the program finish line, Community Impact Project teams will give their hand-off presentations to their respective project hosts and then CELEBRATE their accomplishments at the Leadership Essentials 2023 Closing Session & Reception on June 8 from 4 to 6 pm at The Meeting House! All are welcome to join; please RSVP to Katherine Keefe .

Community Postings & Volunteer Opportunities

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) invites county residents to take an active role in developing and revising school system policies as members of Policy Advisory Committees. HCPSS is currently seeking candidates for membership on the Academic Eligibility for High School Extracurricular Activities Policy Advisory Committee (Policy 9070). The Howard County Veterans Foundation will unveil the design of the Howard County Veterans and Military Families Monument planned for downtown Columbia.
