Ohio Chamber Interviews US Senate Candidates
The Ohio Chamber invited all the candidates running in the 2022 U.S. Senate Race in Ohio to talk on-camera about some of the issues encountered by Ohio businesses.

DORA & Revitalization District for Downtown Fostoria Passes
|
|
Fostoria City Council approved the creation of a DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) and a Revitalization District at the April 5 Council meeting. The full application has been sent to the state. While we await final approval, the Chamber, in partnership with the City of Fostoria, is hosting informational meetings for businesses and liquor permit holders within DORA. The meetings will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at 9 a.m. and Thursday, May 5 at 6 p.m. at the Fostoria Learning Center. Meetings for organizations planning events in Downtown who plan to sell alcohol within the DORA are being planned. If you or your organization are planning an event in downtown and have questions about the DORA, please reach out to the Chamber.

FEDC & Chamber Launch Podcast
|
|
Fostoria Economic Development & Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce have launched a Podcast, "Shut Up & Listen: Small Town Stories with Sarah & Renee". The podcast features FEDC President, Renee Smith and Chamber/Small Business Director, Sarah Stephens Krupp sharing all things Fostoria and inviting special guests to join them in a light hearted conversation.
The podcast can be found on Spotify, Apple and Google. The podcast drops the first and third Wednesday of each month and you can learn more and follow Shut Up & Listen: Small Town Stories on Facebook and Instagram.

LAUNCH Fostoria Business Competition Returns
|
|
The LAUNCH Fostoria Business Competition is back! The three part competition will run throughout the summer with applications accepted through May 5. Contestants selected from the applications will pitch to a panel of judges on June 29 for the semi-finals. From the semi-finals 4-6 will be selected to compete in the finals.
The Finals will once again be a public event on Friday, August 5 in Downtown.

More than 30 vendors are currently registered to participate in the Fostoria Farmers’ & Artisans’ Markets in May, with more registrations coming in on a frequent basis.
- Join us for our season-opener on Saturday, May 7th as we “Celebrate Moms & Kids”, sponsored by the Geary Family YMCA. Stop by the market for free photos of moms and kids with A Shot in the Park Photography and find plenty of great gift items for mom.

POET's Earth Day Clean
Up a Success
POET Bioprocessing Fostoria organized an Earth Day Clean Up for City, Gray & Jackson Park. In spite of the rainy weather they had 25 volunteers from POET, Morgan AMT, St. Catherine's Manor of Fostoria, NIS Crankshaft, Downtown ReEVENTed, The Review Times, and City Council.

On Thursday, May 5 at 11 a.m. the Fostoria Kiwanis Club and City of Fostoria will host a joint National Day of Prayer service on the Municipal Building Lawn. Pastors from local churches will lead prayers for our community and world. Complimentary doughnuts, coffee and tea will be available.

Historical Society to Host Historic Home Tour
The Fostoria Area Historical Society is hosting a Historic Home Tour on Sunday, May 15 from 1-5 p.m. On the tour are five homes and the Masonic Temple in Downtown Fostoria. In addition to the tour, The Urban Woody Brewery will be open from 1-5 p.m. with Charlie Kay's food truck selling chicken dinners on site.
Advance Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of. Tickets are available at the Chamber office, Fostoria Senior Center, by calling Mimi Schaffner, 419-348-3880, or from a Historical Society Board Member.

Knights of Columbus & Lions Club Cohost Event
The Knights of Columbus Council 1197 and the Fostoria Lions Club are putting on a BBQ Chicken dinner May 21st at the Christopher Center from 4pm to 7pm. Cost is $15 for a 1/4 chicken (Leg or Breast) with corn on the cob, baked potato and apple pie. We will be closing the night with a comedy show by Kim T and friends starting at 7pm. Tickets for the comedy show are $10 each. Tickets will be on sale starting April 19th at the Christopher Center. Please call or stop in to reserve your meal early. There will be a limited number available and pre-sale is preferred. Please call the Christopher Center, 419-436-7619, with any questions.

Seneca Parks Programs at The Parkette
Saturday, May 21 – 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Seneca Parks District Program: “Old Shoe Garden” – At the Parkette at the corner of Main and North Streets. Discussion on planting seeds, what every seed needs and plant some seeds in a container. Ideas for an old shoe garden will be on display. All supplies provided. There is no charge for this event.

Fostoria Bands Raising Funds for Trip to the Liberty Bowl
The Fostoria High School band has been invited to make a return trip to Memphis, Tennessee to perform at the Autozone Liberty Bowl. The students will get to watch the game and then combine with other high school bands to perform with a major recording artist during halftime. The trip will also include a marching show competition, parade down Beale Street and a tour of the sights and sounds of Memphis. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip for many students who have never been outside of Northwest Ohio.
The goal is to ensure no student stays home due to money. The Fostoria High School band is seeking corporate donations for the trip. There are multiple levels of giving and all donations are appreciated. Click here to see levels and how to donate.

Geary Family YMCA to host Gator Swim Camp and Safety Around Water
Gator Swim Camp 2022 will be held from June 1-July 22 for ages 5-18.
Safety Around Water is a free community program for kids from Kindergarten through 6th grade with little to no swimming skill. The program will be be held May 31- June 2. Learn More
