Mather Veterans Village Phases II & III Break Ground
The City of Rancho Cordova and its community partners officially broke ground on Phases II & III of Mather Veterans Village, a village dedicated to providing homes and services for homeless and/or disabled veterans. These new phases will include a 46-bed transitional housing program, an additional 50 permanent supportive homes, as well as additional supportive services. Learn more

Summer @ City Hall is a two-part program that allows students to get hands-on experience working in local government. Opportunities are available for residents ages 13 to 18. Applications are accepted through May 18. Learn more

Rancho Cordova Mayor Linda Budge joined keynote speaker Gordon Fowler at the SBDC Capital Connection to address a full room about why the Sacramento region is a great place to launch a small business. 

City of Rancho Cordova invests in local banks
The Rancho Cordova City Council voted to invest $5 million each into Five Star Bank and American River Bank in connection with the Responsible Investment for a Stronger Economy (RISE) initiative.  Learn more

New businesses have opened in Rancho Cordova, including:  iFit Golf, offering custom glove fitting, a full repair center, clothing options and more located at 1151 Folsom Boulevard;  Petali , a fast casual Italian restaurant located at 3101 Zinfandel Drive, Suite 128; and J.J. Pfister Distilling Company located at 9819 Business Park Drive.

Mimosa House has announced that it will hold a soft opening on May 15. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, mimosas and a full bar, and is located at 3155 Zinfandel Drive.

Planting Cherry Trees in Kilgore Cemetery

In celebration of Arbor Day and the City's 15th birthday, the City of Rancho Cordova and the Sacramento Tree Foundation planted a grove of flowering cherry trees in the historic Kilgore Cemetery. The tree planting, which kicked off the first of fifteen events that will celebrate the City's birthday, supports the City's urban forest initiative that enhances Rancho Cordova's tree canopy by planting trees in public spaces and providing free trees to our residents. 2018 ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project Completed
The City of Rancho Cordova replaced sidewalk in front of 30 homes and one business as part of the 2018 ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project. The project, which has now been completed, improves pedestrian safety and enhances accessibility for residents in Rancho Cordova neighborhoods. 

Folsom Boulevard Beautification and Enhancement Project Phases IV & V
Construction has begun on the final phases of the Folsom Boulevard Beautification and Enhancement Project, which features a new concrete multi-use bicycle and pedestrian path, plus landscaped median and other landscaping improvements to Folsom Boulevard between Rod Beaudry Drive and Bradshaw Road. The project is expected to begin on Friday, May 4 and be completed by Summer 2019, weather permitting.

Education News
Cordova High School Band Wins Top Honors
The Cordova High School band competed in the Northern California Band Association (NCBA) Winter Championships. The Varsity Guard won 1st place in the Advanced Division, and the Winterline placed 1st in all four competitions, finishing as the NCBA Novice Winter Percussion Champions.

29th Annual Kids Day in the Park

Hundreds of young Rancho Cordovans and their families came together for the 29th annual Kids Day in the Park. Kids were out in full force to decorate cupcakes for the City's 15th birthday, make crafts, and play games while parents had access to free resources. Kids also had the opportunity to enjoy a bike rodeo hosted by the Rancho Cordova Police Department's Police Activities League, which gave away over 80 free bikes!

Building Safety Month Trivia Challenge
Each year, the City of Rancho Cordova participates in National Building Safety Month to educate the public about safe and sustainable structures. The City's Building and Safety Division is holding a Building Safety Month Trivia Challenge where participants can win prizes.  Learn more

Reminder: Voting is Changing in Sacramento County
Beginning with the June 2018 Primary Election, Sacramento County will be one of five
counties in California to implement the Voter's Choice Act. 

This means you choose when, where, and how to vote!

All registered voters will be mailed a ballot.
  • Ballots will be mailed beginning May 7, 2018
Choose how to return your ballot!
  • By mail, at a Ballot Drop Box, or at a Vote Center!
Vote Centers will replace traditional polling places
  • Voters can vote at any Vote Center in the County!
  • Vote Centers open beginning May 26, 2018
