Based on the myths of Ovid |
Written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman
This unique production brings Ovid's ancient myths to stunning visual life. Set in and around a pool of water, Mary Zimmerman's re-telling juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image.
Here's what our audiences have been saying:
- 90 minutes passed so quickly. The water aspect created a creatively entertaining twist to the old and familiar myths. ~ Lin
... a phenomenal production. The direction, costumes, scenery, lighting, staging ... all blended together and the water made it magical. Special mention should be made of Melyssa Dawson's role as Hunger. I didn't know a body could move like that.
An exciting, moving production, everyone performed beautifully. ~ Rose & John

... extremely well performed by every actor. I am always surprised by the professional quality of Venice theater productions now and look forward to next season's shows - especially in the Pinkerton where experiment and surprise are a delight. ~
I enjoyed the performance and became very emotionally involved - and a bit teary at the end. Maybe it was thinking of four years of Latin years ago and the importance of continuing the culture of our past. Thank you for the selection of this play. ~ Sara
