Atlanta Supports 22nd Essentials Drive
Thank you for supporting the 22nd Annual Essentials Drive! Throughout the month of April, people like you donated diapers, baby wipes, and funds to help families experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. On May 11, over 30 volunteers (photo above) sorted, counted, and packed thousands of donations of diapers and baby wipes for delivery to 27 local nonprofits providing housing and services for families in need. On May 12, donations were delivered just in time for Mother’s Day, thanks to UPS, BankSouth Mortgage, and O'Kelley & Sorohan, Attorneys at Law.

A special thank you to Vince Longo and Longo Custom Builders for hosting us at your Smyrna warehouse!

Please join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 5 to celebrate this renovation project to provide educational opportunities for potential homeowners.
On March 24, a Care Day with volunteers from Lennar and Complete Permitting Services kicked off the work on Gwinnett Housing Corporation's Affordable Housing Resource Center. Lennar continued work throughout April, and a final Care Day wrapped up the work on May 19 (photo below).

Builder Captain: Taylor Morrison
New construction adding 48 beds in Decatur: two homes that will serve as recovery residences serving women and children. For 52 years, Breakthru House has served low-income women and their children struggling with addiction by providing a long-term residential program to empower women to achieve recovery. On April 28, HomeAid Atlanta, Breakthru House, and home builder Taylor Morrison celebrated the groundbreaking of the new homes (photo above).
Fischer Homes Joins HomeAid Care Day
Fischer Homes employees and trade partners joined us for a HomeAid Care Day on May 5 at The Drake House in Roswell. Work focused on transforming a former daycare center on The Drake House campus into what will become The Drake Marketplace. Approximately 30 Fischer Homes volunteers painted the building's entire interior, installed new doors throughout, demolished an old ramp and rebuilt it for ADA compliance, made improvements to the entrance, and much more. The Drake Marketplace will allow a much-needed expanded food pantry “shopping” experience for The Drake House clients, as well as expanded laundry facilities.
