On May 15, about 164 students will be awarded their degrees at RSDM's convocation ceremony in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Five of those students reflected on their RSDM journeys as they prepare for their next steps.

Associate professor of restorative dentistry Hoda Yousef has been selected as the new vice chair of the school’s largest department. She is an alumna of RSDM and has been a full-time faculty member since 1998. “I feel like this is my second home,” she said. “ I've seen it grow and I've seen it change and I've seen it change for the better; I’m proud to be a part of this.”

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine Alumni Association organizes events throughout the year to bring together current and future alumni.

Started by and named after Michael Balbo, Balbo Research Day is an opportunity for students to share their research with the RSDM community. Over the years, this annual event grew to be a full-day occasion with poster presentations, vendor stands, and lectures. On March 29, the 2023 Balbo Day took place at the Oral Health Pavilion, where pre- and post-doctoral students presented a total of 38 posters.

Every year, RSDM and New Jersey Medical School play hockey to support a charity organization. This year’s event took place on April 7 at RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark to support the Valerie Fund. RSDM won 6-5.
