Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Happy Easter!

May is here, and we are greeted by blooming flowers, much warmer temperatures, and a beautiful sense of renewed hope. This month is dedicated to Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus.

Mary's life of quiet faith, deep trust, and unwavering love serves as a model for us all. We honor her through prayer, song, and devotion - especially through the Rosary and May crownings that uplift her example of humble service and courageous faith.

We continue to hold Pope Francis and the College of Cardinals in our prayers during this sacred time of discernment and leadership. As the Cardinals prepare to elect a new pope, may the Holy Spirit guide their hearts with wisdom, unity, and peace.

Let us turn to Mary, Queen of Peace, asking her to intercede for the Church and each one of us, that we may follow her example of saying "yes" to God's will with trust and joy.

Please let us know how we can better serve you and your parish as we carry out our mission of evangelization to help parishes bring people to an encounter with Christ and a deeper appreciation of the Catholic faith. (Contact us at family@diocesepb.org)

May God's Mercy and Peace be with you and your family,

Cathy, Deacon Louie, Beth, Liliana, Andy,

Maria, Cindy, and Rosario

He Who Sings Prays Twice

You may already know the Memorare and the Hail Holy Queen by heart, and this month you can add more Marian hymns and prayers into your mental index. The video below is an excellent guide to learning to sing the Salve Regina for those who didn’t grow up knowing it. It is an incredibly beautiful melody, and supernaturally consoling. Then you can sing this prayer after finishing your rosary instead of reciting it; and, as St. Augustine says, “He who sings prays twice.”

“For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one. So, they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.”
