Bolivie Wins in 2024 Debut!!!

After some time away from the track to to rest and recover both physically and mentally, Bolivie made her 2024 debut a winning one.

Our four-year-old filly had been training with Brendan Walsh this Spring and was ready to return to action. That chance came in a 1 1/16 mile turf race at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Wednesday, May 29.

Jockey Alberto Burgos piloted our filly beautifully, settling in towards the back of the pack early in the race. As the horses entered the final turn, Bolivie found a seam and swung to the outside entering the stretch where she showed a nice turn of foot to draw away from her competitors, crossing the finish line alone to win by a full length.

Trainer Brendan Walsh and the As One team were quite pleased with the effort against a competitive field. Bolivie showed the competitiveness and burst of energy we saw last year in her Searching Stakes win, which we hope to see again soon. Bolivie came out of the race well and will return to training in anticipation of her next race. We will see where Bolivie leads us for the Summer as we look for that opportunity and see if she can continue to move forward to bigger and better things.

Big Brass Bed Tries Tougher Competition in Canada

Big Brass Bed looked to take a step up into graded stakes competition as she traveled to Toronto to make As One's first international start.

BBB, as she is called by the As One owners, took on a tough field in the Grade III Belle Mahone Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday, June 1 in the 1 1/16 mile race on the all weather course.

Jockey Alex Achard piloted Big Brass Bed and had her sitting comfortably in the pack, ready for a closing kick down the stretch. With little pace on the front end and some stiff competition, however, our filly wasn't able to make that big run to get up with the leaders and finished 7th. She will return to her Kentucky training base now, as next steps are decided for her return to the races.

Mission Moment

As One Racing Partners Speak at

Black Sports Business Symposium in Atlanta

Part of the vision and mission of As One Racing is to help grow the sport of horse racing by introducing new and diverse audiences to the sport. Three of As One's partners did just that on May 29-31.

Ronald W. Mack, Jonathan Israel, and Jay Ingle joined approximately 2,000 attendees at the 3rd Annual Black Sports Business Symposium at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta to present a panel on Ownership: Instant Access Through Horse Racing. Featured speakers at the event included broadcast journalist Cari Champion, President of the Las Vegas Raiders Sandra Douglass Morgan, Taylor Rooks of Thursday Night Football, and retired NBA player and business executive Baron Davis.

Ron, Jonathan, and Jay shared information about the vast reach and economics of the sport of horse racing, the opportunities to become an owner through racing partnerships and other opportunities, and the efforts of As One to increase diversity in the sport.

As noted below, Keeneland helped tell the incredible history of black horsemen with the onsite installation of its Heart of the Turf exhibit.

The week was a resounding success, as we made many new friends, introduced new fans to the sport, and hopefully will help grow the sport of horse racing.

Keeneland Brings Exhibit Featuring

Black Horsemen to Atlanta

In addition to a panel dedicated to horse racing, the 2000+ attendees at this year's Black Sports Business Symposium received a special opportunity to be introduced and learn about the history of the sport as they entered the arena. Thanks to the generosity of Keeneland Association, the Keeneland Library brought its touring version of the fascinating "The Heart of the Turf: Racing's Black Pioneers" exhibit to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The acclaimed exhibit tells the incredible story of black horsemen from enslavement to today through photographs and stories of the lives of more than 100 horsemen. Having engaged over 70,000 individuals in its first year, the installation at the Black Sports Business Symposium was the first time Keeneland had taken the exhibit out of Kentucky.

As an added bonus, Keeneland Library Director Roda Ferraro, who was instrumental in curating the exhibit, was onsite to walk attendees through the exhibit and engage in conversations about the history and future of the sport. With the exhibit set up at the entrance to the Symposium, nearly every participant saw this great history.

Keeneland sent 1,000 informational flyers and 100 copies of the companion book to the Exhibit to Atlanta. After two days of conversations and interaction, Roda left with only 6 flyers and countless new friends and connections to help share this history.

If you haven't seen the exhibit or want to know more, check out the links below for future touring sites and a link to the flipbook digital version of the companion book.
