Dear League Members
Summer is coming fast and will be gone just as fast.
The League will be participating in a number of activities this summer due to the August 7 primary and November 6 General Elections.
In the planning stages are candidate forums for five races: City Council Ward 1, County Commissioners Districts 3 & 5, State House 98th District, State Senate 36th District. Look for a primary forum in early July.
The Voter Service team will be collecting and entering information in VOTE411. We send questions to contested candidates for local races. The candidates enter their answers directly into VOTE411.
We're going to the County Fair August 12-18! We've reserved a table in the Merchants' Building and will offer voter registration, election information and other League-related info. Be prepared to take a shift if you can.
Here's to a productive and fun summer!
Yours in League,
Katherine Redwine, President |

That's the number of valid signatures we need by the end of June to get real voting reform on the November ballot. However, the LWV of Michigan's quota is 25,000 signatures.
Our League has sent in 355 signatures and I have several sheets waiting to go.
Please return sheets to Katherine Redwine by June 1. If you have sheets, you may mail them to me or drop them off with Judy McDowell. Email me at

Historian Needed
Our League is in need of a Historian. This is not a Board position. It would require a few hours several time per year. The historian will keep track of press clippings, photos, other publications. Annually, the historian will submit materials to the Archives at the Midland County Historical Society.
