May Programs at KTD: Remembering Bardor Tulku Rinpoche

As the spring flowers of April bloomed, we heard the sad news that Bardor Tulku Rinpoche, one of the founding lamas of KTD Monastery, passed away into parinirvana. In the days that followed, the khenpos, lamas and monastics at KTD participated in the many ceremonies conducted in Bardor Rinpoche’s honor, both at KTD and at Kunzang Palchen Ling. The ceremonies will continue into May, as we commemorate the great dharma generosity of Bardor Rinpoche.

Sutra studies with Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin will continue during May, and prayers and pujas will continue for the benefit of beings. And on Wednesday, May 26, we will have a special Chenrezik puja to observe Saka Dawa DuChen, the day associated with the Buddha’s enlightenment and parinirvana. It is one of the Four Great Occasions in the Buddhist Calendar. Due to the auspicious connection with the life of the Buddha, the positive effects of actions taken on this day are multiplied many times. It is a good day for making offerings and prayers.

Pujas in Honor of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche

Since the passing of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche, the khenpos and lamas of KTD have been participating in prayers and offerings in Rinpoche’s honor.

Based on the recommendation of His Holiness, these pujas are being done in honor of Rinpoche:
  • Amitabha
  • Akshobya
  • Vajrasattva
  • Vairochana
  • Shi Tro
  • Pema Vajra
  • Gyalwa Gyamtso (Red Chenrezik)

In addition, at His Holiness Karmapa’s request, some of the KTD and Karme Ling resident lamas will participate in special pujas at Rinpoche’s Kunzang Palchen Ling center.

Note: both Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery and Kunzang Palchen Ling continue to be closed to the public.

The pujas at KTD will not be webcast, but we encourage our dharma friends to tune into the daily webcasts from Kunzang Palchen Ling and to make donations to KPL to support their daily pujas.

May all be auspicious and may all beings benefit. Karmapa Khyenno!

KTD Remains Closed for the Foreseeable Future - Although New York State government officials have announced measures to gradually reopen some public places and businesses, out of an abundance of caution, our two upstate New York centers - the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra monastery in Woodstock, NY and the Karme Ling Retreat Center in Delhi, NY - will remain closed.
