Now streaming: Data buoy

After a little troubleshooting, the data buoy is now streaming online, 24/7! Click here to see the data (the link is also available right on our homepage, www.lakemax.org).

The buoy is located south of the rowing center in Aubbeenaubbee Bay. Keep an eye out on your late-night boat rides: a solar-powered beacon flashes from dusk-to-dawn for visibility. Measurements include air and water temperature, wind speed and direction, dissolved oxygen, rain totals, algae levels, and more.

Raw data always require some explanation... so please stay tuned to our newsletter for further details on what each of these metrics might mean for our lake!

LMEC in action

The Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council (LMEC) serves as the operational committee of the LMEF, digging into the weeds on local programs and projects. Sometimes that is literal as well as figurative! We recently noted that some signs around the Kline Wetlands needed some TLC, so we held our meeting outdoors to quickly put them to right.

Afterward, we walked the newly refurbished levee.

Do you have a permit for that, mister? Wait... what are you doing?! Head over to our blog to hear about how you can become a "hero in a half-shell"...

LMEF board members conclude terms

At our recent LMEF board meeting, we held a short and bittersweet moment of gratitude for two board members who have concluded three full three-year terms of service. Dave Haist and Chris Kline have brought their passion, talents, and energy to LMEF over the last 9 years. All who cherish the health of Lake Maxinkuckee can be thankful for the legacy they've established.

We managed to keep Kline around awhile longer. As Chairman of the Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council, he will continuing serving on LMEF as an ex-officio board member. You're not getting off that easy, Chris! Pictured, L-R: Chris Kline, Abbe Starr (LMEF Chairman), and Dave Haist.
