Great books to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month -- a celebration recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture and achievements of the United States.

 Cobb Public Library staff compiled a booklist by and about Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans for all ages!

Faith leaders in Hispanic community invited to forum with police department

Cobb County Police Department will host a faith forum geared toward our Hispanic community from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 18. It will be held at the new Cobb County Police Academy, 2435 East West Connector.

Discussion topics will include:
  • Opportunities and challenges in 2021
  • Presentations available for community leaders
  • Challenges per areas
  • New area crime tendencies
  • Resources available for faith leaders
  • Community Emergency Response Team
  • Chaplains and the community

Share your input on Cobb's transportation plan

Cobb County last completed a Comprehensive Transportation Plan in 2015 — and much has changed since then. Our population has increased and transportation needs and opinions have shifted within the county and region.

New technologies and transportation solutions are also available that can enhance and transform Cobb’s future transportation system. To leverage these new tools and strategies,

Cobb County and our cities are embarking on CobbForward, the county's Comprehensive Transportation Plan for 2050. Your feedback and participation in CobbForward will help shape the future of transportation investments in Cobb for the next 30 years.

CobbForward is gathering public input on a series of surface transportation (pedestrian, bicycling and trail) and transit projects. Cobb Department of Transportation staff has many ways for you to be involved:

Special election in June to fill state House of Representatives seat

A special election will be held on Tuesday, June 15 -- in the parts of Cobb County that comprise Georgia House District 34 -- to fill a vacancy due to the resignation of Rep. Bert Reeves. A runoff, if needed, will be held on July 13.

  • This election is not countywide
  • Voters residing in District 34 are eligible to vote: map of District 34
  • The registration cutoff for this special election is May 17
