The MPO's Draft FY23/24 - FY 27/28 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is now Live!

The MPO is pleased to release its annually updated Transportation Improvement Plan. The FY 23/24 - FY27/28 Draft TIP includes
$ 335,000,000 worth of funding and is the second largest TIP by funding level in the MPO's history.

The Indian River Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is in the process of developing a transit development plan for the community. If you are interested in the future of Indian River County’s transit system, please plan to attend this workshop. We need to hear from you so we can incorporate your ideas, goals and values.

At the April 12th MPO Board meeting, representatives from Bike Walk Indian River County (BWIRC) recognized three members of the community for their extraordinary impact in supporting the goals of Bike Walk and the MPO's multi-modal program. The inaugural Bike Walk IRC awards were presented in three categories; Community Service, Advocacy, and Safety. The safety award was presented by Brad Cutler, the son of Carl Cutler who was tragically killed while riding on A1A in late May 2021.
- The Community Service Award was presented to Jane McNulty Snead of United Against Poverty.
- The Advocacy Award was presented to Ed Barsotti, Program Director of the Florida Bicycle Association.
- The Safety Award was presented to Kris Kehres, Operations Engineer, of the Florida Department of Transportation.

FDOT Public Meeting and Open House for SR 656/17th Street East End of Bridge Rehabilitation and Improvements Project
|
|
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a Virtual Public Meeting and In-person Construction Open House regarding upcoming improvements to the east end of the SR 656/17th Street bridge and SR 656/17th Street in the City of Vero Beach.
Project Improvements:
- Replacement of the eastern 400 feet of the existing bridge.
- Sealing the full length of the existing bridge deck surface.
- Upgrading signing and pavement markings.

- Project personnel will be available to review the project scope and schedule, lane closures, and address questions one-on-one.

Phil Matson Retires after 20 years with IRC
|
|
Phil Matson retired from Indian River County on April 12, after over two decades of service with the MPO and Indian River County. Phil was a member of MPO staff from 2001 to 2020, and served as MPO Staff Director beginning in 2004. At the April 12th MPO meeting, the Board adopted a resolution honoring Phil's contributions to the community.
