You spoke...and we are listening
Steve Matheny
Executive Director
Earlier this year we solicited your input and feedback via a seven question member survey. Among those questions we asked your specific thoughts about... additional member benefits or activities you'd like to see, suggestions you have for future member meeting topics/speakers, and the top two challenges facing your business in 2018. Many of you shared your thoughts and provided feedback and we are now beginning to incorporate some of those thoughts and ideas into some of our programs.
It was clear from your feedback that many of you are very interested in marketing your own businesses more effectively. You are interested to promote awareness of your business and what you do. You are wanting to know about ways you might leverage marketing dollars and optimize your social media presence. You are interested in advertising and/or sponsorship opportunities and are open to ways there might be more collaborative marketing efforts between businesses. Clearly effective marketing and promotion of your respective businesses is a chief concern. Given your concerns we are pleased to share that we have several programs upcoming that we believe are directly responsive to your interests. Specifically, our May Member Meeting and Luncheon (next Wednesday, May 16
th) will feature a presentation on "How to Make Online Marketing Work For You" by our Chamber colleagues at RevLocal. RevLocal's company focus is helping businesses maximize their online presence with a personalized approach to digital marketing. This talk should be closely aligned with some of the specific needs and interests you mentioned in our recent survey.
Also, at our next Business After Hours network gathering (on Wednesday, May 23 rd ) we are trying something new...we're calling it Net-Rocking (rather than the more traditional Networking) and it will be a blend of networking and a trivia event/contest. The tag line for this first ever activity could be:     "Show us your knowledge of music & TV trivia while we learn more about you and your company. "   The intent here is to help build our knowledge of each other's businesses while having fun. We will be hosting a trivia quiz based on music and tv nostalgia at TrueCore Federal Credit Union's Deo Drive headquarters facility with complimentary wine & appetizers provided. Answer the question(s) correctly and you'll get to speak briefly about your company.  This is an opportunity for you to meet and get to know other chamber members, have fun and win prizes!
We are also finalizing plans to offer an inaugural 'Coffee Chat' to be conducted by Michelle Newman Brady of MNB.Marketing in mid-June that will put an even finer point on the marketing challenges faced by small and start-up businesses. More details will be forthcoming soon describing this initial talk so stay tuned. We have also begun to identify additional subjects and topics that may be candidates for additional 'Coffee Chat' or 'Brown Bag Lunch' sessions. These may include informal talks on subjects like information technology, health insurance updates, or business succession planning conducted by fellow Chamber member experts.
Finally, it is also worthwhile to note that our planned June Member Meeting and Luncheon (on June 20 th ) will be jointly attended by members of the Licking County Chamber of Commerce and their associated Human Resources Association Chapter and will feature a program on HR Issues and current Legal Trends - another subject that many of you expressed interest in. The bottom line here is that we want to provide programs that are responsive to your needs so please 'keep talking' and letting us know what you want.
