Make your mark and start by designating your school support
Did you know your school support designation determines which trustee election you can participate in for in the next municipal and school board elections?
In Ontario, property owners and tenants can choose which school board they support. This designation also helps determine how you’re listed on the Preliminary List of Electors, placing you on the correct voters list for the municipal and school board elections.
School support designations should be reviewed and, if needed, updated by June 1, 2026, to be accurately included on the Preliminary List of Electors for the election on October 26, 2026.
To learn more about school support and update your designation, visit https://www.mpac.ca/en/MakingChangesUpdates/SchoolSupportDesignation

Stay Tick Aware This Spring and Summer
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is reminding residents to take precautions as Lyme disease cases increase in Dufferin County. Lyme disease is spread through bites from infected blacklegged (deer) ticks, commonly found in wooded and brushy areas.
Protect yourself by:
- Doing regular tick checks
- Wearing protective clothing
- Using insect repellent
- Removing ticks promptly
WDG Public Health is also looking for property owners with wooded or brushy land to participate in a one-time tick collection (tick dragging) on private property. This helps track tick populations in our area.

Unseen Thing: The Mulmur Hills Poltergeist
History, ghost lore, and the psychology of fear converge in the true story of the infamous Mulmur Hills poltergeist.
In the aftermath of the Great War, the Dobson family retreats to a quiet farm in Mulmur, Ontario, seeking peace from urban life. In 1926, their tranquility is shattered when terrifying horse mutilations signal the presence of an unseen thing. Four years later, the terror moves indoors, turning the farmhouse into a battleground of inexplicable phenomena: phantom knocks, shaking floors, and objects that defy gravity.
When the disturbances take a darker, more violent turn, the Dobsons flee. Their ordeal draws journalists and thrill-seekers to the now-famous “Spook Farm.” As rumours of family intrigue, buried secrets, and supernatural forces swirl, spiritualist investigator Ivan Hutchins arrives to pursue the mystery through séances and firsthand inquiry.
The story unfolds against a wider tapestry of rural Canadian poltergeist cases, comparing the Dobson's’ ordeal with other forgotten hauntings and the patterns they share. This forgotten chapter of Canadian paranormal history explores why stories like these echo through our folklore, our fears, and our enduring fascination with the unexplained.
Christopher Dodd is a writer, filmmaker, and educator drawn to history, folklore, and the unexplained. He wrote the feature film Wrecked (2011) and co-wrote the thriller Kill for Me (2013). His nonfiction work explores forgotten mysteries. He divides his time between Richmond Hill and Mulmur, Ontario.
