"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." 2 Corinthians 5:17
Welcome May!
If you've visited our website today, you've probably noticed a few changes! After almost 40 years of developing character in kids and adults through training in theater arts, CYT Inc. is refreshing our brand with a new logo, updated mission statement and a whole new look! Like the children we teach, a brand is always growing and changing. This is where we are right now, in May 2018, and who we are growing up to be.
We hope you'll join us in Embracing the Change!

A wonderful night in Whoville was had by all! The evening was made even more special with the entertainment from our very own CYT KC students, and special announcements, including a new theater for our Northland area! Our upcoming season was announced by the Improv Team, and we were treated to an especially entertaining opening number by our very own Emcee, CYT Director, and CYT Parent, Chris Gei! Oh, and lest we not forget the very "Seuss-y" & delicious mile-high cake!

If you missed it this year, start making plans now to attend the 12th Annual CYT KC Gala - it's our one shot at fundraising - so you don't have to sell trash bags, or do the car wash thing - it's a fun, community-building event that helps us fund the gap between our revenue and our expenses.

And rumor has it, next year is going to be like, totally awesome!!
Our Spring Shows
Parents, Tech Weeks are coming up! This week can be very busy with long days and lots of information coming at you each day. Please be sure to read EVERYTHING your Production Coordinator sends out - it will truly make your week go much smoother if you know what's going on! Also, a quick reminder that during our shows, there is to be no photography or videography of any kind...whatsoever! Nope, not even by parents or grandparents of kids in the show (our approved CYT photographer/videographer is the ONLY exception)! This violates our contract and licensing agreements and can get us in big trouble! Thank you for understanding! We are looking forward to three amazing shows this month!

HYPE is High School Youth Pursuing Excellence. This group allows high school students to contribute to the CYT KC community by serving, planning community events and fundraisers. There are two HYPE areas: South and East.

The goal of HYPE is to challenge and grow the older students of CYT to:
  • be leaders and get involved by serving the community around them.
  • look at all aspects of theatre, not just from the actor’s point of view.
  • grow as an individual, committing themselves to excellence in all they do.
Download a HYPE Application  here .
Thank you to all who supported the CYT Improv Team by attending our Fierce, but Friendly Improv Competition and/or the Painting Party. Your support is truly appreciated!

Please be praying for the team as they continue to practice and prepare to compete at the CYT Improvathon this June!

Inclusion, It’s a Mission….
Every day is full of opportunities and every day Inclusion does not happen naturally. There are limitations in front of us when we have a developmental disability.

Our diagnosis, our label, our presence can seem to have an expectation for us before we even arrive.

Having an Inclusive Attitude takes planning, preparation, time and practice.
An Inclusive environment opens doors for students with developmental disabilities AND their peers and everyone recognizes and feels a strong sense of belonging.

The importance of high expectations is present. The respect of ALL strengthens the friendships and bonds that are now possible. The connections we allow are life changing.

Our actions of helping, supporting and encouraging provide a path for hope, for confidence, and for kind leaders to develop at all ages.

With God, all things are possible.
