Ocala First Connection
May 2021
Adaptive Church Report
Stewardship & Budget Report

On Sunday, May 2, Pastor David and Mark Babalian presented two reports about the State of our Church, focusing on our church's Core DNA and on our critical financial needs. Below are brief outlines of their presentations, but we encourage you to watch both videos to hear these important messages.
Adaptive Church Leadership Program
  • Plan for adapting our congregation to a changing world
  • Missional Needs and Opportunities in Our Community
  • Adaptable Challenges for Ocala First
  • Our Core: Compassion, Generosity, Relationships
  • How does Ocala First carry our “Core DNA” into the future?
Ocala First’s Current Financial Status
  •  Ocala First is truly Blessed with our Leadership, Staff, Volunteers and Congregation
  • Your church navigated financially through 2020 with assistance from various resources: PPP Loans, Special Financial Gifts, Members accelerating their 2020 Giving

2021 Operating Fund Budget has a Deficit of $170,000
  • This case where Expenses significantly exceed Revenue is NOT SUSTAINABLE
  • Your church must work within its Operating Cash Flow
  • Committees have already reviewed and cut expenses
  • All that is left to cut are Programs – the very Programs that are essential to our church and community
  • If we do not address this Deficit now, 2022 and future years will be severely impacted

In response to this Deficit, please prayerfully consider how you can help:
  • If you Pledged, please consider increasing your Pledge
  • If you Give but did not Pledge – please consider increasing your Gift and Pledging
  • If you do not Give, please consider contributing towards our Operating Fund
Prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness are an integral part of demonstrating our faith. We are at a crossroads where gifts are vitally important at this time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the church office (352-622-3244). Also, please keep in mind that you can always give On-Line at fumcocala.org/give.
Gifts can be mailed to the church office.
(1126 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL, 34470)

You can also give online at any time!
Both info sessions on General Conference will be held in the Family Life Center.

We are sharing stories of our church family in a variety of ways. Some are even being invited to record their stories to share during worship each week.

2020 Mission Committee Report

The Mission Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to the 2020 Mission Giving Plan. The total dollar amount giving was $16,098.40. Monetary giving amount was $11,995.00 and the estimated amount giving in item donations was $4,103.40.

The agencies that received the item donations were so grateful to be given these small items in such a great quantity. When 265 bars of soap were delivered to Interfaith Emergency Services (an equal amount of soap was given to the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Center) the man receiving the donation said they were in need of soap. They have showers available for the homeless and they make up hygiene bags to give out to each person needing supplies. He said the soap would be placed in these bags, as well as given out to families needing soap. It is hard for many of us to think about a bar of soap that we take for granted (or any of the small item we are asked to donate) is a luxury for less fortunate individuals. Through your given we have made a difference in many lives.
We were pleased to support the following organizations and ministries in the past year:
  • Kimberly Center
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Pace Center for Girls
  • Oasis at Lowell
  • Spouse Abuse Center
  • Open Arms Village
  • Meals on Wheels
  • United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
  • Zambia Missionaries
  • Wyomina Park Thanksgiving Food
  • FL United Methodist Children’s Home
