MECK Pre-K Operations During COVID-19
Thank you for your patience as we continue to monitor and respond to the COVID-19 situation.

Classroom Update: As a reminder, MECK Pre-K is following the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools school calendar for the remainder of this program year. Therefore, MECK Pre-K classrooms will remain closed through the end of the year, June 9. We will continue to provide instruction to our families and children through remote e-learning.

Office Update: In the interest of the safety and health of our staff and families, MECK Pre-K offices will continue to remain closed to the public until further notice. You can reach us by phone at (704) 943-9585 or by email at info@meckprek.org. We will notify you as soon as we are able to reopen.

As always, we will operate with the safety and health of our students, teachers and families as our top priorities. We will also continue to be informed on recommendations from leading experts at the local, state and national levels.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8
We at MECK Pre-K have amazing teachers and teacher's assistants! During the closure, our teachers have been working extra hard to deliver online learning experiences to our MECK Pre-K students.

For example, our teachers are conducting "Zoom visits" with students and families at times that are convenient to the family. During these visits, the teachers read aloud to students and lead them in educational games. Sometimes even siblings get in on the act! The teachers also provide suggested activities for the children to do at home, and encourage families to share videos or pictures of the children doing the activities.

MECK Pre-K teachers and staff miss seeing their students and their families in person. While we can't replace the educational, social and emotional benefits of in-person pre-kindergarten, we will continue to strive to give our students the best at-home experience possible.

Join us in celebrating our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Here are some ideas:

Parent Appreciation

We know that parents have really stepped up to support their children's pre-kindergarten education while MECK Pre-K is closed. We want to thank all of our parents, and wish you a Happy Teacher Appreciation Week as well!
Kindergarten Registration
We strongly encourage all of our MECK Pre-K families to begin thinking about Kindergarten Registration for the fall. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has provided the following resource page for families to learn more about registering for the 2020-2021 school year.
MECK Pre-K Surveys
We will be sending out short surveys to MECK Pre-K parents and teachers in the coming week. Our purpose is to gather information, stories and feedback about education and communications during the COVID-19 closures. Thank you for your participation!
"Aprendiendo Juntos - Learning Together"
Video Storytimes from the Library
Our partners at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library have provided these fun and educational storytimes in English and Spanish in order to support the early literacy needs of our pre-k students at home.
MECK Pre-K Testimonial
Recently, a MECK Pre-K parent had this to share about her experience.

“I just wanted to let you know how happy my husband and I are with your program ... ever since [our son] has been in this program, he has been doing great, and absolutely LOVES it, and LOVES his teachers!! He doesn’t even give me a hard time at drop off – something he was known to do in the past.”
