This month, films from the Third World Newsreel catalog will be showcased in museums, film festivals and art-house cinemas. Screenings include the newly released "Because of You: A History of Kilawin Kolektibo", the newly restored "A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde" and the digitally preserved "Newsreel Retrospective." For our New York readers, don’t miss two local events at Anthology Film Archives: attend the rare screening of the newly digitized "Voodoo Dance" by Elsie Hass, and join us for the 35mm film screening of "EL SIGNO VACÍO (the empty sign)," which explores Puerto Rico's history of colonialism, with filmmaker Kathryn Ramey in person. We are also pleased to co-present "En résidence surveillée", "N'DOBINE" & "Vieyra, The Innovative Pioneer" at the New York African Film Festival. In other news, continuing our celebration of film and filmmakers, TWN fiscal sponsorees Steph Ching and Ellen Martinez received an Emmy Nomination for their new film, "Slumlord Millionaire," in the category of Outstanding Business and Economic Documentary.
