180 Apartments Planned for Rocky Point
Northwood Ravin has purchased the vacant 3-acre lot next to the Westin Tampa Bay on Rocky Point with plans to build 180 residential apartments. Northwood's website anticipates a groundbreaking in 2019, with the first units to deliver in 2021.

Dual-branded Marriott Hotel Coming to Midtown Tampa
Midtown Tampa unveiled plans for its dual-branded
Element and
Aloft hotel, both
Marriott brands geared toward millennials. The hotel will feature 226 rooms, a rooftop terrace, pool and lounge designed to appeal to locals as much as to out-of-towners. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer on the seven-story hotel with an opening date planned for 2021. Midtown developer

WestShore Plaza owner
Washington Prime Group has acquired almost two acres in the northwest quadrant of West Shore and Kennedy boulevards - property currently occupied by a Bank of America branch. Washington Prime is planning a mixed-use development on Sears' department store real estate and surrounding surface parking. Redevelopment opportunities could include a variety of uses, from condos and apartments to office space to a grocery store.

Macy's Backstage, the department store's discount outlet with a focus on fast-selling merchandise, is coming to
WestShore Plaza in June. Plans filed with the city show that Macy's will renovate 26,982 square feet on the third floor to make way for the new Backstage outlet.

Zons Development's Skyview Plaza, located at
3415 E Frontage Road next to the Social Security Administration, and the

FAA seeking public input for changes to Tampa International Airport airspace
As part of the
South-Central Florida Metroplex Initiative, the Federal Aviation Administration is proposing a number of changes to flight paths and procedures at Tampa International Airport and several other airports throughout Florida. The goal of the initiative is to improve air traffic flow and reduce congestion in Florida's air space. The FAA recently held several public workshops in the Tampa Bay area to review the proposed changes. If you were unable to attend, the FAA is accepting comments
online.

Take the Tampa Bay Commuters Pledge To Improve Your Commute
From now until June 2019, commuters around Tampa Bay will pledge to commute to work through public transit, biking, carpooling, walking, and teleworking. Commuters traveling for work or school to/from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties can take the pledge for any mode at any time. Weekly prize winners will be drawn from the mode of the month pledges (May: Walk, June: Telework/Compressed Work Week), announced on the website
TampaBayCommuters.com.
