World Hunger Day
Thanks to everyone who supported Blessings in a Backpack during our "Feeding Kids in Your Own Backyard" campaign in honor of World Hunger Day on May 28. 

Individuals got involved this month by donating to feed kids on the weekends next school year, hosting outdoor fundraisers, and collecting summer-fun items for Blessings kids.

 A shout-out to the KFC marketing team (pictured), who included jump ropes and sunglasses in 340 bags packed for the kids at JB Atkinson Elementary in Louisville, Kentucky!

Urban gardener Nick Cutsumpas is passionate about leaving the earth greener than when he found it and giving people the knowledge and confidence they need to create green spaces.

Known as "Farmer Nick," he's also a host on Netflix's Emmy-nominated show Instant Dream House and a social influencer who is a friend of Blessings in a Backpack.

Nick joined us in our 'Feeding Kids in Your Own Backyard' campaign in support of World Hunger Day on May 28th. He met with the preschoolers at the Goodman Center in Madison, Wisconsin, in May, giving each child an apple and a Blessings in a Backpack's food bag that over 1,000 Madison public school kids receive each weekend. He also read them the children's storybook Maddi's Fridge.
Nick stressed the importance of eating healthy and, as illustrated in the book, helping a friend who might not have enough food at home.

Blanche Sims Elementary Cereal Drive

The student council challenged students to bring in 400 cereal boxes to donate Blessings in a Backpack, and if they met that goal, they would get a surprise at the end!

“Partners In Educational Excellence” Award

Waukesha County Chapter Hosts Volunteer Event

Community volunteers filled 3,000 backpacks with kid-friendly, shelf-stable, and nutritious weekend food for Waukesha County students to take home on the last day of school.
