Dear PO Alum,

It is with great pleasure that I announce our newest bachelor's degree program, Community Psychology , which will be offered at our Pasadena campus and online starting Fall 2018. We are very excited as the Community Psychology degree is our first full 4-year bachelor's program at Pacific Oaks!

Community Psychology recognizes that just like individuals, communities have their own social and psychological dynamics. Identifying a community's needs is the first step to positively impacting its future.

Do you know someone interested in solving community-wide problems through research and policy development?

Community Psychology may help them put those ideas to action. We are offering three specializations-generalist, advocacy & social justice, and elementary education-to ensure our graduates are poised to make an immediate impact in diverse settings-as consultants, community service managers, behavioral interventionists, educators, and more.

Additionally, for those interested in teaching credentials, PO offers a combined B.A./Teacher Credentialing program in three subject areas: early childhood education, human development, and community psychology. This unique pathway helps students save both time and money.

While we add new programs to respond to the needs of society, the Pacific Oaks values you came to appreciate during your time here will always remain true.

Share your PO experience with a change maker in your life. Help us spread the word about these dynamic new program offerings!

All my best to you,
Patricia A. Breen, Ph.D.

PO Proud Spotlight
Marian Browning, Director of Northern California, will be retiring May 2018 after working with Pacific Oaks for over 7 years. Marian graduated from PO in 2008 with a Master's in Human Development and has been instrumental in guiding students in the Northern California region.

While studying at Pacific Oaks College, Marian met her mentor and student advisor, Gretchen Brooke. Marian continues her legacy through all the work and lives she has impacted during her service at Pacific Oaks.

To celebrate all her years of support and service, she asks that alumni and friends make a gift of any amount to the Gretchen Brooke Memorial Scholarship. All proceeds from the fund are used to award scholarships to students attending the San Jose Campus.

"Gretchen Brooke was my first contact with anyone from Pacific Oaks. I was referred to Pacific Oaks by an alum in the Bay Area and met Gretchen at an information session. Soon I was a student and she was my advisor. I had many classes with Gretchen and she always had a smile to share with words of encouragement. Soon after I became the Director of Northern California Instructional Sites, she was in San Jose and told me that we needed to talk. She was very supportive of all things Northern California and shared her words of wisdom. I consider her a legend in the Pacific Oaks Family and her presence will be missed. She will live on in the hearts of those she touched and to future generations as we use her example to reach others. " -Marian Browning

We thank Marian for her generous spirit and all her work at Pacific Oaks College.
