Kaiser Permanente CHCP

We are excited to share information on another health care option through the Kaiser Permanente Community Health Care Program!

This program helps fill in the gap of those in need of health coverage. Kaiser offers high quality affordable health care to those who do not qualify for health coverage through Medi-Cal, Employer insurance, or Covered California. Funds are received by the Charitable Foundation from Kaiser Permanente Health Insurance which makes this community health care program possible.

No legal immigration status required to be eligible!

BFRC has partnered with SDG&E to provide access to the CARE program

The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program can provide you with a discount on your monthly energy bill (electricity and gas).

If you’re currently receiving public assistance, or you’ve recently lost your job, you may qualify for this discount. Even if you are receiving unemployment benefits, your household income as of today may qualify you to receive 30% or more off your bill. See if you qualify.

Community Impact

At the Bonita Family Resource Center, we understand that life can bring sudden changes, difficulties, and uncertainty. Maria's story is a powerful testament to the challenges many in our community face, and it emphasizes the vital role we play in providing support during these trying times. 

When Maria, a 55-year-old woman, and her husband first visited us, they were struggling to purchase food due to her husband's deteriorating health. We immediately assisted them in applying for the CalFresh program. 

A couple of months later, Maria returned to our office, heartbroken. Her husband had passed away suddenly, and she felt lost, especially with the paperwork he usually handles. We were there for her, helping her contact her caseworker, notify them of the situation, and send the necessary verifications to complete her CalFresh application. 

We followed up with Maria a few weeks later and were relieved to learn her CalFresh benefits were approved. This provided her with one less worry during an incredibly difficult time. 

Maria's experience highlights our steady commitment to our mission: to be a beacon of support for our community members through life's unexpected twists and turns.
