Following tradition, the art show committee has created a brand new arch for this year's show.

The art show is open for in-person viewing in the Mellon Room of the Northeast Harbor Library during library hours except during times when the Mellon Room is booked for private use. Please check the library website for hours and the exhibit's availability.

Volunteer – Join an ASC Committee!

As an active member of Acadia Senior College, you have probably been taking some classes. Have you also attended a Food for Thought talk or a Coffee Clash? Gone to a party? Signed up for a field trip? Made a donation? Participated in a class or event via Zoom? You can thank our hard-working volunteer committees for all that.

Are you new to ASC and wish to support our work in some way? Or have you been taking classes for years and want to “give back” to the College? Well, we have a committee for you!

What do our committees do?

Membership and Volunteers: Plans and organizes social events of the College, works with venues, prepares and provides refreshments, and arranges entertainment. The M&V committee also helps with member mailings.

Events: Organizes educational events that take place outside the classroom – Coffee Clash, Food for Thought, and various field trips. The committee helps with everything that goes into these programs, from brainstorming ideas for speakers to checking names at the door.

Advancement:  Plans fundraising activities for ASC, including writing grant applications, soliciting area banks for funds, and writing letters to members to appeal for donations. About one-third of our budget comes from such philanthropy.

Finance: Oversees the College's financial matters. Led by the ASC Treasurer, this committee is responsible for the annual budget as well as managing our investments and our endowment.

Curriculum: The heart and soul of the College, the Curriculum committee recruits and guides instructors to shape classes, and organizes three sessions of courses. The committee also works with site partners and helps with course brochures.

Technology: Ensures that instructors have the equipment they need for classes, provides technical and Zoom support for classes and events, and works on technology issues such as hearing assistance devices.

How can you help?

ASC depends on volunteers who fuel these committees. Several committees are currently looking for new members - Membership and Volunteers, Events, and Advancement - but if you have time, interest, or ideas for any of the committees, please let us know.

If you are interested in joining us, please call the ASC office at 207-288-9500 or email learn@acadiaseniorcollege.org and we'll be happy to talk to you more about our committee work!
