2022 ANNUAL REPORT
We are pleased to share our 2022 Annual Report as we celebrate 85 years dedicated to the mission set forth by our founders, Spencer and Julie Penrose, "to enhance, encourage and promote the current and future well-being of the people of Colorado." Reflecting on our impact, in partnership with the amazing organizations we are privileged to support, is an opportunity to celebrate what we have accomplished and anticipate what is yet to come.

As the members of the Fellowship Class of 2021 wrap up their time at El Pomar, we want to thank them for their leadership at the Foundation and dedication to serving the communities of Colorado. We are excited to see how the departing cohort will continue to make an impact as they pursue their next steps across a variety of sectors.
2023 FOUNDATION GIVING IN COLORADO REPORT
The 11th edition of the Foundation Giving in Colorado report is now available. This interactive report provides an overview of giving from private and community foundations throughout Colorado from 2017 - 2021. Explore new data on how funders granted more than $357 million to nonprofits across the state in 2021, including $27.9 million in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
COLORADO WOMEN'S HALL OF FAME INDUCTS JULIE PENROSE AT MARCH GALA
In March, the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame celebrated the induction of 17 contemporary and historical women who have shaped the past, present and future of Colorado. Among the inductees was El Pomar Foundation’s co-founder, Julie Penrose.

El Pomar is pleased to announce the election of three new El Pomar Trustees: Mike Edmonds, Amy Humble and Emily Robinson. We are also pleased to announce Erik Estrada has completed his Fellowship Alumni Trustee term and was elected as a Charter Trustee and Judy Bell will become Trustee Emerita.

We are proud to welcome our new Trustees, who have been extraordinary partners and collaborators with El Pomar, and grateful to continue to benefit from the expertise, knowledge and passion of our Trustees transitioning into new roles.
ACYPL DELEGATION VISITS COLORADO
El Pomar is proud to have partnered with the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) for more than 25 years to host delegations of political leaders from around the world in Colorado. In March, El Pomar hosted an ACYPL delegation from Malaysia and the Philippines. The delegation visited Denver and Colorado Springs, meeting with elected officials and nonprofit leaders, attending receptions and cultural events and taking in Colorado’s natural beauty. Delegates received tours of the Colorado State Capitol and Air Force Academy as part of the political and cultural exchange.
NELP BECOMES PeOPLE
To better serve all types of leaders of Colorado, El Pomar is expanding the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Program, including a new name: Penrose Organizational and Professional Leadership Experience (PeOPLE). This four-day leadership workshop in partnership with Center for Creative Leadership develops exceptional leaders to effectively manage and lead in any sector. The program will now be open to a broader audience of Colorado leaders, focusing on a specific sector or industry each year.

In 2023, the program will be open exclusively to El Pomar’s Fellowship Alumni. Applications for 2023 are open now until May 31.
85th ANNIVERSARY ROAD TOUR SPOTLIGHT: LAKE COUNTY BUILD A GENERATION, LEADVILLE
El Pomar has hit the road! In celebration of our 85th anniversary and upcoming 20th anniversary of the Regional Partnerships program, our CEO and staff have embarked on a road tour of the 11 outstanding regions of Colorado. We are excited to be immersed in local communities, visit grant partners and connect with those working hard to enhance, encourage and promote the current and future well-being of the people of Colorado.

PENROSE HERITAGE MUSEUM'S FAMILY EXPLORATION DAY JUNE 3
Penrose Heritage Museum will host its FREE Family Exploration Day on June 3, a fun way for families to connect with Pikes Peak region history. Hear the engine of the 105-year-old Broadmoor Special race car, Yellow Devil, meet race competitor Andy Kingsley, and climb inside a historic carriage. Visitors will receive family fun guides and participate in a scavenger hunt for chances to win admission to top area attractions!
GOVERNMENT GRANTS TOOLKIT
Throughout 2021 and 2022, El Pomar’s Northwest Regional Council partnered with Keystone Policy Center to convene state and local leaders to help rural communities in northwest Colorado better understand and access the recent surge of available government funding. This project, called “Advocating for the Needs of Northwest Colorado,” led to the creation of an online resource portal that contains information about how local communities might access and navigate federal funding opportunities. It also links to upcoming State of Colorado informational summits, supported by El Pomar, about available statewide funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. 
SARAH WOODS RECEIVES RISING STAR AWARD
We were proud to celebrate Sarah Woods, Curator of Historic Properties and Archives at El Pomar, for her recent recognition as a 2023 Rising Star by Colorado Springs Business Journal and Sixty35 Media. The award recognizes outstanding young professionals in the Pikes Peak region who are champions for their communities. Congratulations, Sarah! This is so well deserved.
ERICA OAKLEY-COURAGE HONORED AS MPA OUTSTANDING GRADUATE
As she earns a Master of Public Administration graduate degree from UCCS, Erica Oakley-Courage has something else to celebrate – selection as MPA Outstanding Student for Spring 2023. This honor was earned due to her many accomplishments and the faculty’s deep appreciation of what she has brought to the program and will continue to bring to our community. El Pomar certainly appreciates all she brings to her work in support of Colorado’s nonprofits as Associate Vice President of Grants. Congratulations, Erica! 
CNA 2023 NONPROFIT SALARY & BENEFITS SURVEY
The Colorado Nonprofit Association conducts a Nonprofit Salary & Benefits survey to help hundreds of organizations in Colorado set competitive compensation packages to attract and retain valuable employees. The deadline for nonprofit CEOs, Executive Directors and human resource professionals to participate in the 2023 survey is May 19. Incentives included for early submission.
