May 2021 Heart Connections
For the pets and people of our community, May was another joy-filled month as a total of 46 pets were adopted. One of our greatest successes from the month is the adoption of Mickey (pictured), who waited 50 days to find his match.

GMHS is incredibly thankful to our friends and supporters who ensure we have the resources to give pets like Mickey the time necessary to make a lasting heart connection. May Mickey and his new family enjoy many happy years together!

Visit GMHS on the web to view all the homeless pets searching for a forever family and submit your adoption questionnaire electronically. We continue to conduct adoptions by appointment. With an approved questionnaire, a member of our Adoption Team will schedule a time for you to meet your future match!

Backyard Buddy Adoptions

Heathcliff longs to live his best life as a Backyard Buddy, and you can help make his wish come true!

A Backyard Buddy is an independent-minded cat who would prefer to live outdoors, and they make great pets.

To adopt one of these fantastic felines, you must:

  • Commit to meeting cats' basic needs, including fresh water, consistent food, adequate shelter, and daily monitoring;
  • Ensure no one on or near the property uses poison or bait to kill rodents; and
  • Provide a secure, quiet place for cats to get acclimated during their first two weeks in a new home.

Each Backyard Buddy is altered, current on all vaccinations, including rabies, dewormed, microchipped, and eartipped before adoption. And, as an added bonus, their adoption fees are sponsored!

Call (804) 693-5520 ext. 102 or email our Adoption Team for more details or to adopt one of our GMHS Backyard Buddies.
