ECONOMIC OUTLOOK
Almost home... overwhelmingly optimistic...
|
|
“The macroeconomic outlook for Q2 is overwhelmingly optimistic, with consumers expected to shake off lingering pandemic-related uncertainty and go on a services spending spree,” says Lara Rhame, Chief U.S. Economist & Managing Director, FS Investments. “We look for a spike in inflation to complicate the interest rate outlook for investors. For markets, rising interest rates will remain a focus – it isn’t just how high rates can go, but how fast. Even strong equity market fundamentals may be jolted by volatility in interest rates.”
|
|
Key Takeaways
Q2 growth is expected to surge, fueled by stimulus checks and pent-up services demand.
Monetary policy is increasingly linked to employment. We break down other metrics we will use to monitor the state of the recovery in labor markets.
We are grateful to Lara – who serves on the Hyperion Bank Board of Directors – and FS Investments for sharing her Q2 2021 Economic Outlook.

Zelle is fast, safe & easy
|
|
On April 8, Hyperion replaced Popmoney with Zelle. As you may know, Zelle is a mobile payment application or digital payments network, much like Venmo.
Zelle is a fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money with friends, family and others you know and trust. Once you complete your quick, one-time enrollment, your Popmoney account information, activity, history and contacts will be available in Zelle.
|
|
Good to know: Scheduled or recurring Popmoney payments sent to an email address or mobile number will be cancelled unless you enroll in Zelle. You’ll also want to notify contacts that you will no longer be using Popmoney.

IN THE NEWS:
Community Bankers... Listen
|
|
Hyperion Banker Frank Sullivan was recently among community bankers featured in Independent Banker, the magazine and website of the Independent Community Bankers of America, of which Hyperion is a proud member. April was Community Banking Month, so ICBA was shining a light on how these bankers help customers and communities.
The article shared how Frank helped customers Natan Shvarts and Igor Giterman launch their rehabilitation company, Yona Construction. The thriving business renovates and builds homes and acts as a general contractor.
“When people come to me, I let them tell their stories, and that’s what I did with Natan and Yosef,” Frank says. Read the full story here.

Independent, responsive insurance agency
|
|
Insurance Brokers, Inc. is a full-service insurance company with access to a few insurance markets to meet most of your insurance needs, from Real Estate, Business Owners, Workers Comp, Professional Liability to Life, Health, Disability and Long-Term Care Benefits.
“I chose this neighborhood because it was an up-and-coming area,” says Joshua Hodess, Owner of Insurance Brokers. “I started the business when I was living in Chicago; I was a buy-side Trader for a family office and thought if I obtained my insurance license, I could handle their commercial real estate insurance needs, which is what happened.”
He says what sets Insurance Brokers (IBI) apart is that they get back to clients in less than 24 hours. And what sets Hyperion Bank apart from other banks for Hodess?
“I like the entire staff. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with.”
To learn more about IBI, which is licensed in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, call 267-909-8051 or 888-338-8848 or email them.

Team Hyperion
Najá Thompson
Meet Najá Thompson, who joins the bank as Loan Operations Specialist. She has more than 10 years’ experience in banking, including time spent as a Financial Crimes Specialist (!). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications Media from Lock Haven University. Away from work she enjoys thrifting and attending sporting events.
Najá also identifies as a sewist, which was a new term for us. Combining the words “sew” and “artist,” it describes someone who creates sewn works of art, from clothing to decorative items. Welcome, Najá!

New & refurbished
PMA, PHL
Starting May 7, the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) will debut its much-anticipated new and refurbished spaces completed in the “Core Project” redesign by Frank Gehry. The multi-year project opens new spaces previously closed to the public for decades, and presents brand-new galleries, including 20,000 square feet of new gallery space for art that reinterprets the story of Philadelphia and the nation. (The image shown here was featured on their website.)
This is the largest expansion in the museum's main buildings since PMA opened in 1928. The Museum requires mask-wearing and social distancing and recommends advance tickets or reservations. Learn more.

May also is the perfect month to explore 42 landscaped acres at Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, NJ. And the Please Touch Museum reopened April 22, welcoming back kids; the museum requires masks and social distancing.
