Opportunity for K-1 Teachers!
Join The R.E.S.C.U.E. Project
Millions of early readers are missing school during the COVID pandemic. This will likely have serious negative effects on their reading development. The RESCUE Project team that consists of Haskins Labs, UConn, Yale, and others, as well as partners such as Renaissance (Star Reading) and University of Oregon (DIBELS), hopes to prevent this COVID Slide. The goal of this NSF-funded research project is to help students in K-1 learn to read at home using a computer-based reading instructional game and provide benchmark reports to teachers (at no cost).

The team is limiting the project to 100 K-1 teachers (and their roughly 2000 students), and the spots are filling up fast. Fumiko Hoeft sent a message that all spots may be filled by the end of the week. If you are interested in this opportunity, make sure to sign up soon - before the May 15 deadline.

#GivingTuesdayNow
IDA COVID-19 Relief Fund for Families and Teachers
IDA-GA is participating in the global #GivingTuesdayNow event that will take place on May 5, 2020 to support nonprofits, volunteerism, and other community-based initiatives as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Please consider donating in one of two ways to the IDA COVID-19 Relief Fund for Families and Teachers:

Funds raised will help provide laptops, tablets, software and other technology as well as funds for one-on-one tutoring to struggling readers.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for our COVID-19 Relief Fund.
IDA's New Fact Sheet: How to Advocate for Assistive Technology Tools and Services
All students, including those with disabilities, have the right to access the information being taught in school and to demonstrate what they have learned. Assistive Technology (AT) can be the key to making that happen. To learn more about advocating for a student who would benefit from AT, see our latest fact sheet, “How to Advocate for Assistive Technology Tools and Services.”
