CB Global Ministry
Peru

Pacific Church Network’s international ministry, CB Global, continues to expand. The weekend after Easter, Emilio Núñez and I were invited to Lima, Peru, to visit one of our newest church networks—planted through the ministry of Pastor Fidel Gómez Ríos (pictured next to Emilio) and his church, Iglesia Evangélica Bautista Horeb. This network includes approximately 70 churches throughout Peru, and we had the privilege of visiting four of them over the weekend. I was also honored to preach at the Lima congregation on Sunday evening. The photo above shows us with a group from IEB Horeb, who generously gifted us jerseys from the Peruvian national soccer team. They mentioned that the team did not qualify for the World Cup—perhaps that’s why they had a few extra shirts for us!

This dedicated team spends three weeks each year traveling through the jungles of eastern Peru, teaching the Bible while also providing practical support such as literacy training, education, medical care, pastoral training, and instruction in areas like cooking and parenting—all while faithfully sharing the gospel.

Looking ahead to next year, their needs include financial support for school supplies, clothing, sound equipment, and gifts for pastors. There are always opportunities to give, and if you feel led to support this ministry, we invite you to click here.

God is moving around the world.

Improve Your Online Church Presence

PCN Zoom Webinar | Wednesday, May 13 | 12:00 PM

Most churches have a website, social media, and email blasts… but having the tools isn’t the same as using them well. Ministry consultant Jason Lehman has identified a consistent pattern: churches approach communication from the inside out, treating their digital presence as an accomplishment rather than a vehicle for reaching people who don’t yet know them. The result is a series of perception barriers between pastor, congregation, and community that leave people confused about who a church is and whether it’s worth a visit. In this presentation, Jason unpacks why this is such a widespread problem and what churches can do right now to communicate more clearly and remove the friction keeping people at a distance.

Japan Recent Earthquakes
CB Global Japan Churches

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck off Japan’s northwest coast at 4:53 PM local time on Monday, April 20. The quake caused a temporary power outage across Iwate Prefecture—home to several semiconductor facilities—but electricity was restored quickly to both homes and businesses. Japan has had its share of other earthquakes in April:

  • April 26–27 Magnitude 6.1–6.4 earthquakes in Hokkaido
  • April 21 Around 5.4 magnitude offshore quake
  • April 18 Around 5.0 magnitude quake in Nagano

Thankfully, none of CB Japan's churches or congregations were impacted from the 7.5 earthquake, and fewer than twelve people sustained minor injuries, with only a few dozen buildings reporting slight damage.

Helping Those in Hawaii
Daybreak Church, Oahu

Daybreak Church has expanded their compassion work in Hawaii. Originally, they sent monthly teams over from Oahu to Maui to help the recovery efforts from the terrible fires in 2023. Following the overwhelming rain storms this March, which in some places saw over 50" of rain, fire response morphed into storm response and they spent the day removing felled trees and mucking out mud from impacted homes. There the vision for "Island Disaster Relief" was planted. While on Maui, the devastation of Oahu continued to grow. Within a matter of hours, they were connected with Mercy Chefs . This connection led to the opportunity to help coordinate meal support during the devastating Oahu floods. They continue to reach out to areas that have been devastated, but often overlooked, including houseless encampments in Makaha and Mokuleia. On many occasions they've gotten the following response from those they've served—"No one ever comes over here, and yet you came from way over there!" These are humbling reminders of Jesus calling us to do as he did and "seek out the one." These moments confirmed their ministry's expansion.

Pakistan Joins CB Global

We are excited about the newest applicant for membership in CB Global, Pastor Sunil. The Christian church in Pakistan faces many challenges as they work to reach people with the gospel: language barriers, poverty, long distances to travel, lack of materials, and persecution. Our brothers and sisters need our encouragement and prayer. We are exploring ways to help with audio Bibles, training, and materials.

CB Global joins like-minded networks of churches together all over the globe. We cooperate together to strengthen each other in fulfilling the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CB Myanmar

Reasons for Joy

Pastor Go in Myanmar, recently held a Children’s Camp in Yangon in partnership with CB Myanmar and Wuchang Church (CB Global Taiwan) from March 31–April 2. (That's Pastor Go in the middle of the Picture.) The team from Taiwan was a big help! This is what CB Global is about, helping others. The camp had 190 children participate in this special time of learning, fellowship, and fun. In addition, CB Myanmar hosted a seminar during the Water Festival in Myanmar from April 13–17. They are excited to share that 9 people accepted Christ during this time, and Pastor Go had the joy of baptizing them. Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support—it truly makes a difference!

Appreciation Breakfast

Iglesia Fortaleza, Whittier | April 25

PCN’s Spanish-speaking pastoral couples recently gathered for a special appreciation breakfast, a meaningful time of fellowship and gratitude for their faithful service to God’s people. During the gathering, Pastor Rafael Canadá from Connect Global shared an inspiring message, encouraging each church to embrace the call to proclaim the Gospel in their Jerusalem, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. We are especially thankful to Pastor Edgardo and Ruth Moreno for graciously opening their church, providing a delicious breakfast, and blessing the pastors and their wives with thoughtful gifts. It was truly a refreshing and uplifting time together, and we look forward to seeing even more pastors join us at our next gathering.

Johnny and Ningning Cometa

Spending Their Retirement Sharing the Good News

Photo: Johnny and Ningning were adopted as a son and daughter of the Kalinga Apayao Tribe (Evangelical Churches) in the Philippines.

If retirement means preaching and sharing the Gospel of Jesus all over Southern California—and even around the world—then Pastor Johnny and Ningning Cometa are doing it right! After many years of pastoring and serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Chaplaincy, Johnny stepped into a new season in August 2023 as PCN’s Pastor-at-Large. Johnny and Ningning love saying “yes” to opportunities to serve. They visit PCN churches and follow the many doors God opens both locally and internationally, sharing the message of Christ with warmth and joy. And as a bonus—they sing, too! If you’d like to invite this wonderful couple to minister at your church, please contact Pastor Johnny here: Johncometa27@gmail.com.

New Church Plant Update

Love Church, San Diego, CA

Pastor Matt Perry shared that since launching earlier this year in San Diego, their church has consistently welcomed over 100 people each week with more than 200 attending on Easter Sunday. Even more exciting, in just the first three months, 70 people have made decisions to follow Jesus! Like any new church plant, there have been some early challenges, but they are working through them with God’s guidance. Please continue to pray for this growing church as they reach a new generation for Jesus Christ in San Diego. Learn more at: lovechurchsd.com.

AB-506 & SB-294

Helpful Updates

AB-506 and SB-294 are two of the many California laws with which churches must comply. AB-506 includes updated Live Scan requirements, and you have until December 31, 2026 to make the necessary changes. Failure to do so may result in losing access to your DOJ portal.

SB-294 requires that you provide all employees with the “California Know Your Rights Notice.”

If you need assistance, please contact the PCN office at 909-944-5900 for more information.
