Dear friends,

To say that I am thankful for our volunteers can’t begin to describe all the gratitude that I feel. The dedication, hard work, and countless hours spent by our small staff and over 800 volunteers is what makes the mission of SSKP happen, every day – week after week – and now in our 37^th year.

If you are one of our wonderful volunteers, you are invited to a very special celebration to thank you for all you do for SSKP!

Please come and eat delicious food, share memories with your team, meet other volunteers, and enjoy our incredible community.

Volunteer Gratitude Day at Lenny & Joe's!

The 2026 SSKP Volunteer Gratitude Day will be on Saturday, June 6th from 11:30am - 1:30pm.

Again this year our celebration will be held at Lenny & Joe's Fish Tale Restaurant in Madison, featuring delicious food they have generously donated for our celebration! We are so grateful for all they do for SSKP year-round, and especially for hosting our gratitude gathering.

Please RSVP by May 29th by calling the SSKP Office at (860) 388-1988.

Help "Stamp Out Hunger" on May 9th

The "Stamp Out Hunger" nation-wide food drive will be held this year on this Saturday, May 9th. Please check for an announcement from your letter carrier to find out if they are participating.

If your mail carrier is joining this effort, please leave a bag of non-perishable food near your mailbox on Saturday, May 9th. Be sure to check all expiration dates on the food you donate.

Thank You, Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut

SSKP is very thankful to have received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut (CFECT), made possible by the generosity of the Chipperfield-Brustolon Fund and the Dogrock Fund.

This grant will help SSKP purchase fresh and nonperishable food to be shared with those in need through our SSKP Pantries in Old Lyme and East Lyme.

We are truly grateful for the generous support of the CFECT!

Firehouse Food Drive for SSKP

This year's Firehouse Food Drive really filled our pantry shelves! A big "thank you" to all the fire departments and generous supporters across the community. Fire departments from Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Chester, and Clinton collected 5,882 pounds of food and almost $3,000 in donations!

Special thanks also to event organizer Max Sabrin of the Old Saybrook Fire Department, Gil Simmons, Chief Meteorologist for NEWS 8 WTNH, Lee Elci from 94.9 FM, and Shore Publishing/Harbor News.

The Old Saybrook Boys Lacrosse Team was also a huge help, unloading heavy boxes of food from our truck - thank you!

We are truly thankful for the support of our local fire departments and everyone who donated!
