Teachers, students, and guest speakers alike raved for the second year in the row about the impact of career day. This year, MAS hosted 30 guest speakers. In one class period, MAS students asked Mandela Barnes questions about the hardships of running for political office (& if he is going to run again!) Boys & Girls Club Deonte Lewis shared about his career & life highs and and lows. Gaulien Smith II from Gee's Clippers shared with students what it is like to run a successful barber shop (that also gives back to the community). Tamesha Patrice from Baked Dream shared her mission to be the best cook & chef she can be (& brought in cupcakes to share with the class ).
And the list goes on and on!
On top of the guest speakers, MAS hosted a Career Expo with 40 table presenters in the gym - they had the ambulance to visit from Bell Ambulance, virtual reality goggles from Gilbane and job opportunities from organizations like Safe & Sound, Milwaukee Tool, & the newly opened Boys & Girls Club bike shop in MAS (more to come on that soon!)
