Remembering Those Who Have Died on Memorial DayRemembering

On Memorial day, we take pause to remember and pay tribute to those Americans who died in active military service. In her Huffington Post article, Grief and the Veteran: An Inside Look, OUR HOUSE's Clinical Director of Adult Programs and Education, Fredda Wasserman, discusses grief Veterans may be carrying but not mentioning. If you or someone you know has experienced a death, please take the time you need to process your grief. To all those who have served our country or who are remembering a Veteran, may Memorial Day bring some measure of peace and calm to your heart. CLICK HERE to read more.

CAMP ERIN - LA Camp

The first session of Camp Erin-Los Angeles is almost here which means it's
our favorite time of year in the Children's Program at OUR HOUSE.

Clinical Director of Camp Erin-LA, Lauren Schneider, says "I've never seen a program that is more effective in such a short amount of time as our camp.  It's truly magical!"   Children are transformed when they recognize they don't have to grieve alone, they can express their thoughts and feelings, have fun and learn coping skills to use in their everyday lives. Each summer, about 150 children participate in the weekend-long camp which combines fun, outdoor camp experiences with grief support.  Camp Coordinator, Karissa Provost, says that "our biggest challenge each year is finding enough male volunteers to serve the male grieving children who apply."  If you or someone you know want to make a difference and ensure every child has the opportunity to participate in Camp Erin-LA, please click the Volunteer Application button below!

Applications are available for our 2016 Camp Erin - LA sessions
June 10-12 & August 19-21

"I had a blast here at Camp. It was amazing. For 5 years I've been carrying the death of my dad, but during the ceremony we did here at camp, now I think I am ready to remember the good times.
I loved my time here! Thank you."
- Jessica, Age 15

"Volunteering at Camp Erin is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
