Message from ESFL Executive Director

Hello Everyone!

ESFL is holding its 2026 Annual Board of Directors meeting in June so we thought now would be a great time to remember the commitments ESFL makes to our community.

ESFL was originally founded to support the Skills for Life Workshops that are held every three years. It has since grown to include developing opportunities to connect, creating great resources, and empowering people to live their chosen lives.

Although there are great organizations serving people with amputations and limb differences, ESFL is the only one dedicated to those living without both hands or more. It's a unique mission and an amazing group of people to serve.

What we develop and deliver is tailored to you, and we always welcome feedback and support of any kind. Please feel free to reach out with suggestions or to let us know what works well for you.

The ESFL Annual Board of Directors Meeting will be held on June 23rd at 4pm central. Make plans to join us! We will share what have been up to since last years Annual Meeting as well as the exciting things we have in store for next year.

Are you new to the Limb Difference/Amputee Community?

I wish I knew how to create a new community of like-minded amputees. I didn't know any amputees before I became one. I was lucky enough to have my prosthetist arrange for some amputee volunteers to come to my hospital room and introduce themselves. If you didn't have this, but you found ESFL, you are ahead of the game.

  • Check out the Peer Connections section on the ESFL website under Connections to get started
  • Ask you prosthetist if they can put you in touch with any local amputees
  • Follow social media- ESFL social links are at the bottom of this newsletter
  • Attend limb loss/limb different events- they are life changing
  • If you are interested in learning more about Post Sepsis Syndrome, check out this discussion on the ESFL channel that features Katy Grainger and Kim Steele

Recently one of my best friends shared that she met a mom with a young child born without upper limbs. I was happy to pass ESFL on as a great resource.
