VegFest Inspires and Educates
VegFest not only spreads the plant-based message on the day of the event, it also attracts a lot of media attention before and after through TV spots, radio interviews, and countless newspaper articles all focused on promoting the benefits of a plant-based diet.
The lines for VegFest were literally out the door in anticipation of our best lineup of speakers ever, which included Alicia Silverstone, Dr. Michael Greger, and Justin Aldelkader of the Detroit Red Wings, just to name a few.
Attendees enjoyed free taste samples from the more than 60 restaurants and took home a large variety of free packaged items from the VegMichigan table.
Attendees appreciated the bigger space that provided wider aisles, additional dining tables, and an all around better experience for everyone who attended the event.
Our cooking demos are always a big hit! Whether you are a seasoned vegan or new to plant-based eating, you can always learn something new from an experienced chef.
The Detroit Red Wings team dietitian, Lisa McDowell and Red Wings star player, Justin Abdelkader, discuss why pro athletes are moving toward a plant-based diet.
The Kids' Zone kept the little ones entertained all day with coloring, crafts, face painting, a bounce house, yoga, juggling, and magic performances.
The VegMichigan Board and Staff would like to extend a special thank you to the over 100 volunteers who gave their time and talent to making VegFest a big success!
Around Town in April Promoting a Plant-Based Diet
VegMichigan marketing director, Adrienne Gillespie, gives a TV interview (above left) before her presention and free vegan food tasting at the Henry Ford Centenial Library.
Also in April, a large group attended the vegan potluck (above right) hosted by VegMichigan and the Mindful Eating Team of the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor. In an effort to encourage more non-vegans to attend, a raffle was held for those who brought a non-vegan guest. Congrats to Sarah Bush of Ann Arbor, who won a $20 gift card to Vedge Café by bringing her granddaughter! We hope you'll join us for one of our many events planned this month - from dinner clubs to potlucks to free vegan food tastings.
