Bladder Cancer Awareness Month 2024
Raising Awareness and Highlighting Patient Stories

Bladder Cancer Awareness Month is recognized globally every May. It is an opportunity to shine a light on this common, yet lesser-known cancer.

Throughout the month, we aim to bring awareness to bladder cancer, highlighting patient stories, experiences, stats and figures, as well as important information about this disease and its symptoms.

Bladder cancer is the 5th most common cancer in Canada, with over 80,000 Canadians currently living with the disease. More than 37 Canadians are diagnosed each day, meaning over 13,400 will be diagnosed this year alone.
By raising awareness of bladder cancer symptoms, our hope is that more patients will be diagnosed and treated earlier to preserve their bladder and quality of life.

Angela's Story

In collaboration with the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition, we are delighted to present Angela's personal experience with bladder cancer.

This is part of the "5 Women, 5 Experiences" series which chronicles the stories of five women across the globe. These stories shed light on the broader obstacles women encounter along their journey with bladder cancer, aiming to combat feelings of isolation by fostering community connection and reassuring women they are not alone.

The BCC podcast is back!

During the month of May we are excited to launch the newest episode of The Bladder Cancer Canada podcast on all major streaming platforms. Krysta Brkich returns with
a new perspective as she turns her challenges with Bladder Cancer into triumph, spreading hope to all.

Be sure to follow us on social media, and like, share and comment on our content throughout the month!

We will introduce you to patients and share all of the ways Bladder Cancer Canada supports Canadians impacted by this disease and how you can help support our awareness efforts.

What's in your bladder cancer pathology report?

Join us on Monday, June 10 for an informative webinar, presented by Dr. David Berman. Dr. Berman will provide plain language information on interpreting a bladder cancer pathology report, focusing primarily on cancer grade and stage.
